Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 |

Also known as: Devil Survivor 2 (JP) This game has unused text. |
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article? |
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 is the second game in the Devil Survivor sub-series of the Megami Tensei franchise, depicting humanity's struggle against alien invaders over the course of seven days.
The game later received a remake on the 3DS titled Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker.
To do: Apparently Samael and Holy Ghost have leftover data (clan, level, stats, etc.). What is it, and do the Bel demons have any as well? |

Unused Demons
Seven demons have entries in the Compendium, despite not actually appearing in-game. Five of them (Jezebel, Beldr, and Belberith as Bel demons; Anael and Sariel as mid-bosses) appeared in the first Devil Survivor as storyline bosses. These demons can actually be put in the game via hacking, some of which aren't fully functional. Possibly, the developers wanted to make the three Bel demons available as regular demons for this game, like Beelzebub and Belial were, but changed their minds.
Via hacking, it is possible to register non-demons such as the Septentriones, but their entries will simply read UNKNOWN.
Holy Ghost
Angelic entities without names. It is said that many are souls that never saw life. As innocent souls, they are allowed to become angels.
Beldr
More commonly known as Baldr, the god of light in Norse lore and son of Odin and Frigg. He is married to Nanna and has two brothers, Hod and Hermod, and a son named Forseti. He was loved by all the gods, but after having a nightmare of his death, Frigg made all the plants and animals swear not to harm Baldr. Only the mistletoe was passed over as it was too young. Hearing this, Loki tricked Hod into shooting a mistletoe at Baldr, which killed him. Hel promised to revive Baldr is every living thing cried for him, but the giantess Thokk refused to weep. When it was found that Thokk was Loki in disguise, the gods punished him. With the world's light gone, it took its first steps toward Ragnarok.
This game refers to him as Baldr, like Shin Megami Tensei IV does, and he is still of the "Bel" race. His Immortal Race Skill reads "Nullify all attacks Move through obstacles", which describes his behavior in the first Devil Survivor 1. No image for him shows up in the Compendium or on his stat page, but he has images for battle. He can be used in Fusion, but with very few demons. Fusing him with a Megami demon results in Flaemis, while fusing him with Hero results in Omega. His fusion message is blank.
Samael
A mysterious angel whose name means "poison of God." He is often depicted as a serpent. Opinions differ on whether he is fallen or not, but either way, he is linked with death.
Samael is a Level 74 Fallen demon, who instead of his own image uses the main character's. However, he can be used in fusion like any Fallen demon can.
Anael
He is one of the Secundeis angels recorded by Johannes Trithemius, and is the spirit of Venus. He is considered to be the same as Haniel, who appears in the Book of Enoch. His role is to watch over the rules of the world and protect those who make charms to ward off evil.
Anael is a Divine demon and thus has Angel Stigma as a Racial Skill. Functions more or less normally.
Sariel
One of the Seven Archangels. His name means "God's command," and he is said to be an angel of death. His role is to watch over human souls and prevent them from sinning. He also governs the phases of the moon, but as a result of telling that secret to humans, he fell from grace. He is said to have silently left the heavens with dignity. He also has an evil eye that can hurt anyone it falls upon.
Like Anael, Sariel is a Divine demon that learns Angel Stigma as its Racial Skill. Functions more or less normally.
Jezebel
Phoenician princess and wife of Ahab who appears in the Book of Kings. She introduced Baal to the Jews, but when Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal and Asherah, she tried to kill him. After Ahab died, her sons Ahaziah and Joram sat on the throne, but both died in a coup led by Jehu, son of Josefat. She was thrown from a balcony, then ran over with a chariot, and her remains were left for the dogs. All this was as prophesied by Elijah, as retribution for killing Naboth for his vineyard.
Oddly, she's referred to as Izabel in this game. While Isabel and Jezebel sound similar, the two names are not related, so this may have been a mistake or mistranslation. Her Racial Skill, "Hot Flower", is described as "Attack range 3 Does not move". In fusion, she cannot be fused with any demons other than Vile, which will result in Flaemis. Her fusion message is blank.
Belberith
One of the 72 demons of the Goetia and the duke of Hell. Said to be derived from Baal- Berith or Baalberith, a god of the Canaanite city mentioned in the Old Testament, later known as a demon in Christianity. According to Sebastien Michaelis, Baalberith tempts men to blasphemy and is an adversary to St. Barnabus. Before his fall from grace, he was prince of the cherubim.
Has no image on his stat screen, but functions perfectly in battle. He still has the "Violent God" Racial Skill, which works as described (Infinite Attack Range - Does not move). Fusing him with Dragon demons will result in Flaemis, Snake will produce Fallen, Vile will produce Megami, and Megami will also result in Megami. Has a blank fusion message.
Anti-Piracy
To do: Get video footage that gets straight to the point. |
If the game successfully detects that the player is using an illegal copy, the boss fight on the first day, Dubhe, will be invincible thus rendering it unwinnable.
