Mega Man (J2ME)
Mega Man |

Also known as: Rockman (JP) This game has unused music. |
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article? |
The original Mega Man on feature phones is a downgraded port of the NES original in terms of level layouts and controls (and we really do mean it - the neutral jump keys are at the very bottom of the keypad). It does feature some interesting creative changes, though, such as the buffing of Guts Man's and Bomb Man's weapons.
Originally released in Japan for the DoJa, a J2ME (MIDP) conversion for Europe was made and released by Living Mobile, and a different one was made and released in China by MoJoy. Later on, Capcom ported MM1 to DoJa a second time under the name Rockman: Definitive Edition, which was later released in 2017 on iOS and Android under the name Mega Man Mobile (Rockman Mobile).
This article focuses on the preserved versions of the original port, which are two versions by Living Mobile.
Unused Music
23.mid
The jingle that plays in the NES original when the final boss is defeated is present, but is not actually played.
Unused Language Definitions
The file lang.txt contains these two lines, which indicate support for Greek and Russian language files. Neither of the two versions contain said files.

Revisional Differences
Version 1.0.1 for Nokia Series 60 phones (176×208 screen resolution, full screen) and version 1.0.2 for Motorola Triplets phones (176×220 screen resolution, 176×182 game window) exist. Despite being built on the same day, there are some differences.
- The title screen logo and art are different. You be the judge regarding which one looks better or worse:
Nokia | Motorola |
---|---|
- The instructional text had some fix-ups in the Motorola version:
Nokia | Motorola |
---|---|
Assitant Dr. Wily re-programmed the humanoids to control the world. | Assistant Dr. Wily re-programmed the humanoids to control the world. |
Nokia | Motorola |
---|---|
JUMP: key # |
JUMP: keys #, 1, 3 |
- The Nokia version scrolls the screen very slowly when it has to make a screen transition, while the Motorola version has instant transitions.
- The Motorola version softlocks when selecting a special weapon, or at least it does when played on emulators and Nokia phones; it has yet to be checked whether this occurs on actual Motorola phones.
