- All of the helmet items keep the Japanese term "MET" in the May prototype. These were changed to more traditional "HELMS" starting in the August build.
- The weaker head coverings are called "rings" in the Japanese version and "circlets" in the English version. "PSY-RING" somehow made it all the way to the August prototype before being corrected.
- "PLSM-FIELD" is misspelled "PLSM-FILED" in the May and August prototypes.
- As explained in the name changes section, the Land Rover, Ice Digger, and Hydrofoil use their Japanese names in the May prototype.
Name Set 2
There are actually two different set of item names in the ROM. This set is only used for buying and selling items in shops.

- Every hyphenated item except for the Psycho-Wand is missing their hyphens in the prototype versions.
- All of the item names that were changed after the May prototype remain the same in this table up to the October build.
- There are two item names that predate the May prototype: The "LUCRO RING" (Part of an earlier romanization of Rykros) and the "ALGOL RING" (Which keeps the Japanese name of the Algo solar system.)

- The mention of sand worm skin being "boiled in wax" was removed in favor of ditching the abbreviated "s.w.skin". This detail is still mentioned in the "LTHR-HELM" description, so it wasn't entirely lost.
- The bit of trivia about the "CRBN-SUIT" being found in ancient ruins was taken out of later English scripts.
- "Titanium" is called "titan" in the May prototype. This is a literal translation of the Japanese term for Titanium, チタン, chitan. All of the descriptions were able to accommodate the longer word except for "BROAD-AXE."

- The Claw description is properly pluralized in the final game.
- Most items that mention techniques or skills had their descriptions changed. "A power" is now "the power", and the technique or skill is no longer in quotes. The only exception is the Telepipe, which still has the technique "Ryuka" in quotes.
- There's a different romanization for Dezolis in the Pengu-Feed description.
