This string gets written to SRAM on bootup at $700000 as an SRAM integrity check. If there is a mismatch, all save data is erased. Despite being mentioned in Super Famicom Nintendo documentation at the time as containing anti-piracy measures, the game appears to have no innate anti-piracy checks.

Region Error

Go back to Ghost Trap, pal

Attempting to play the game on an European console will hang the game on this screen after it fades in on boot. The game was originally intended to be released outside of Japan, but due to the end of console support for the SNES in the US and Europe at the time, it went unreleased, making this screen appear a bit awkward.

Incorrect Controller

Plugging in controllers such as the Super Famicom/NES mouse, the Super Scope, or a multitap adapter will result in the game booting to this screen.
