Dance Dance Revolution Extreme2 introduced the mission-centric Dance Master Mode, which would be used as the main song-unlocking method for the following games in the series (although with several name changes to better fit the games' themes).

The game was also responsible for bringing many familiar tunes to western releases, such as BUTTERFLY (UPSWING MIX), CARTOON HEROES (Speedy Mix), Daikenkai and SPEED OVER BEETHOVEN.

Unused Graphics

KCET Logos

At the time of this game's release, Konami reorganized its arcade and console subsidiaries, unifying everything under the Konami brand. As such, these graphics for the former Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo branch are not used:

These graphics are leftovers from DDR FESTIVAL.

Early Extreme Graphics

At this point, these are the only graphics remaining from an early American Dance Dance Revolution Extreme build seen in pre-release screenshots, which beared many resemblances to the Japanese release.

Freeze!

The unused Freeze! judgement would make its last appearance in American releases here. Farewell, sweet prince.

Unused Charts

The .ssq files of the songs AFRONOVA (FROM NONSTOP MEGAMIX) and BRILLIANT 2U (K.O.G G3 MIX) have hidden Double Light, Standard and Heavy charts. The former two are duplicates of the Double Light and Standard charts for THE REFLEX, and the latter seems to be an early version of the Double Challenge chart of ECSTASY (midnight blue mix), both songs being absent from this game.
