Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis is a "port" of the original Genesis game (it's actually based on the 2005 mobile version) to celebrate Sonic's 15th Anniversary. While it looks mostly the same, it has poorly-remixed music, inferior sound, awful physics, bad collision detection, unstable framerates, and numerous inexcusable glitches. To add insult to injury, it was not only released the same day as Sonic '06 but remained exclusive to North America (yay?).

On August 30, 2008, a proof-of-concept ROM titled "Sonic the Hedgehog GBA" was released on Sonic Retro. Not only did this homebrew version demonstrate just how badly Sega had dropped the ball with the official one, it had been made by one person - Simon "Stealth" Thomley, a well-known figure in the Sonic fandom who would later help develop the official 2013 port of the original game.

Unused Audio

Hmmm...
To do:
Document unused sound effects, as there are several in the Juke Box.

Present in the Juke Box is "BGM 19 UNDERWATER 2", a slightly shorter and reduced-instrumentation version of the used countdown music (listed as "BGM 18 UNDERWATER 1").
