This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
Hmmm...
To do:
  • More oddities
  • More unused graphics (many of which are shared with BTD4)
  • A Bloons Tower Defense 3 leftovers sub-page could remove some clutter
See, this is why game preservation is important.
This game is defunct.
Do note the game no longer works at all without modifications. This is most likely due to the game's servers being shut down. As a result, further official developments with the game are unlikely to happen.

The Bloons Tower Defense 4 Track Editor allows you to create your very own Bloons Tower Defense 4 tracks and share them with the whole wide world!...or, at least, it used to.

Originally, while you could play other players' tracks for free, you had to buy the ability to create your own tracks for 3600 MochiCoins (roughly $5 USD). The editor later became completely free after MochiGames discontinued their currency system in 2012... until the servers were shut down in 2014 after MochiGames was dissolved by its parent company. Which is a shame, especially since BTD4 would be the only game in the series to receive a track editor until Bloons TD 6.

Sub-Pages

Prototype
A lot more to do...but there's still so much blue.

Unused Graphics

Exclusive

BTD4TrackEditorUnusedSitelock.png
This screen is a leftover from Bloons Tower Defense 3, where it was used as a sitelock, but goes unused here. This screen also exists in BTD4, where it is similarly unused, but was updated to use the correct game name and aspect ratio (640x640 instead of 640x480).

Difficulty Screen

Editor BTD4
Btd4DifficultySelection.png BTD4-DifficultySelectionScreen.png

Two track difficulty screens exist: one leftover from BTD4, and another which appears to be an earlier version of BTD4's. It lacks display graphics, sandbox. deflation, apopalypse buttons, the double cash mode button, and the description box.

Locked Upgrade Button

BTD4-LockedUpgradeButton.png
Since all tower upgrades are unlocked in the editor, no locked graphic is ever shown. Despite this, the button still exists in the files.

Level Complete Screen

Btd4CongratulationsScreen.png
While this is partially used when a player track is completed, it is not used within the editor itself.

The unused Spike-o-Pult tower still exists from Bloons Tower Defense 4, identical aside from the fact that the Multishot upgrade doesn't have the flag bug due to it not existing yet; the Banana Republic upgrade for the Banana Farm has a different design in this game compared to BTD4, which lacks a flag.

BTD3 Bloon

BTD3-BloonFreeze.png

The bloon and freeze effect from the last game exist unchanged.

Tower Placeholder

BTD4TrackEditorUnusedTower.png
Tower still exists, unchanged from BTD4.

BTD3 Sound Button

SoundButtonBTD4.png
The sound button from BTD3 exists in the files.

Sound Effects Test

100ox

The sound effects test from BTD3 is still in the files of the editor.

Maps were never present in this game as you can make custom maps, but collision masks still left over in this game, but we can see differences:

Track Editor BTD4 Expansion Final
ProtoTrack.png FinalTrack.png ProtoTrack.png
  • 3 masks for tracks in the final BTD4 are missing in this game, so they likely did not exist at the time the editor was developed.

Unused Music

Bizarrely, despite it being present in the game's files, this game doesn't use the background music from BTD4 at all. The button to toggle music on or off is also absent. They were likely not implemented yet, as the last game didn't have music.

Unused Sounds

Type Editor BTD4
Tower Unlock
Career Rank Up

Earlier, low quality versions of the unlock and rank up sounds from BTD4 exist in this game. They are not used as all towers are unlocked and the career rank cannot be increased.

Oddities

This game appears to be based on an earlier build of BTD4, despite launching a few weeks after it. As a result, it contains several minor differences:

  • The sound effects for the Lightsabre Thrower, Super Monkey Storm, frozen Bloons, and BTD4's title screen are missing.
  • The Banana Republic uses completely different artwork in this game:

    • There are a few things to note about the editor version:
      • It has 4 buildings instead of a massive building.
      • It has 3 bananas instead of 4.
      • The floor is brown instead of grey.
      • it lacks the flag that the BTD4 farm has, which is odd as the upgrade icon is a flag like the final.
  • The career rank graphic still exists in the editor despite the fact that it cannot go up.
