Hmmm...
To do:
A few things:
  • A let's play of the prototype (on original hardware) is on Youtube, highlighting many differences present (Playlist here).
  • Appears the rip.WAD file with dev assets is identical to the prototype, if anything from there isn't in the prototype (used or otherwise), move to a development page.
  • Add more info about the debug features. A video showcasing them can be found in the playlist.
  • The Mother Demon's sprites are different, rip them out and compare. She also doesn't appear to have attacks (but will still try to use them).
    • Besides her, are there any other noteworthy enemy differences?

On December 26th, 2022, a prototype of Doom 64 was leaked onto 4chan alongside development assets. The prototype is dated December 10th, 1996, and appears to be for evaluation judging from the text at the title screen.

At this point the game is quite close to final but has a few differences.

The selection icon was previously the skull icon from previous games but later changed into an orange (and rotating) demon's head in the final.

Placeholder

A rather goofy placeholder sprite seen in the prototype, such as with teleportation sprites, weapons and some scenery objects.
