The classic PC game hits handhelds, with some annoying censorship. This version is based on the WAD data created for the Jaguar version, which had greatly reduced map detail among other changes.

These projectiles are also unused on PC IWADS before v1.666.

Gibbing Animations

The IWAD inside the ROM contains multiple graphics for gibbing animations, despite this feature being entirely removed out due to censorship.

Jaguar Leftovers

There are a few graphics leftover from the Jaguar version.

Unused Messages

You pick up a medikit that you REALLY need!

Stored at 4FF164. This is a variant of an unused string in the PC version, which according to sources would have displayed if a medikit is picked up at less than 25% health.

Unused Episode?

The string THY FLESH CONSUMED, which refers to the bonus fourth episode of Ultimate Doom, is stored with the other episode titles at address 6AA364. They had probably intended to include stages from this episode in the port, but couldn't due to either mere space limitations, a desire to accommodate the deathmatch stages, or because these levels were never toned down for the Jaguar WAD.

Unused Music

The music track Hiding the Secrets is unused in this port. The track itself doesn't exist in the Atari Jaguar version (where this port is derived from), and its inclusion is presumably to be used in MAP24: Military Base where it is the sole secret map in this port.
