Developers: Nintendo,
St.GIGA This game has hidden developer credits. This game has a Data Crystal page |
This game is defunct. Do note the game no longer works at all without modifications. This is most likely due to the game's servers being shut down (as of June 30, 2000). As a result, further official developments with the game are unlikely to happen. |
The Satellaview was a satellite modem-type peripheral developed by Nintendo and the satellite radio service St.GIGA that was somewhat similar in technology to the Sega Channel. During certain timeslots, the station would transmit timeslot-limited games to Satellaview-equipped Super Famicoms, sometimes with a live voice-acted radio soundtrack. Many of these games were either exclusive to the Satellaview or specially-modified demos of Super Famicom games.
The peripheral came with a cartridge called BS-X: Sore wa Namae o Nusumareta Machi no Monogatari (Translation: "BS-X: The Story of The Town Whose Name Was Stolen"), which was an interactive menu of sorts in a form of a town that was used to interact with the broadcasting services prior to the discontinuation of said services and the Satellaview. After the closure, the cartridge itself is still playable... somewhat, but you cannot enter any buildings, receive any programs, come across any NPCs, etc. without relying on third-party programs like Satellawave in conjunction with an emulator.
