Tom and Jerry: Mousehunt
Tom and Jerry: Mousehunt |
---|
Developer: Conspiracy Entertainment
|
Mousehunt is an interesting sport-like game featuring the most famous cat & mouse duo. The goal is to save (as Jerry) or capture (as Tom) as many of "Jerry's cousins" as possible, more so than the opponent and under a time limit. It's a solid concept.
...Too bad you can cheese through the entire game (pun intended) with a rather tedious but functional game-breaking "feature". Also, the lack of multiplayer in a game like this is pretty odd, although it wasn't for lack of trying on Conspiracy's part.

Scrapped Multiplayer Mode
Enabling GameShark code 0101F8CF at the main menu will highlight the totally-not-conspicuous space between the One Player and Password options. Press A while linked to another copy of the game to access what's left of a scrapped multiplayer mode.
A match can be started, however it will immediately freeze and disconnect the linked games, at which point it reloads the main menu.
Unused Music
Six jingles that aren't used anywhere. Possibly intended for the scrapped multiplayer mode.

In the original European release, the "Mousehunt" subtitle is missing entirely, and there was additional copyright info in this intro screen that would later be removed.

While all versions have this title card (based on one used in some of the classic Tom and Jerry cartoons, albeit with a fully gray Tom here), the one in the original European version is...rather off-putting and unfinished-looking, along with having a flashing "Press Start" prompt instead of a static "Mousehunt" subtitle.

On the main menu, once again the "Mousehunt" subtitle is absent. There is also a miscolored pixel on Tom's eyes.

The US version changes the flags representing English and Spanish from the UK and Spain to the US and Mexico, respectively. The German and Italian options were also removed, however both can still be accessed by enabling and disabling GameShark code 01??F8CF (where "??" is 03 for German and 04 for Italian) at the language select screen.

A glitch introduced with the updated versions - it is impossible to toggle Music and Effects on/off separately. You can only highlight the "Music" option, and it will toggle both Music and Effects.
