Street Fighter III 2nd Impact: Giant Attack is an update of New Generation that introduced characters Hugo and Urien to the series and brought back EX specials from the CD versions of Street Fighter: The Movie as well as Akuma from Super Street Fighter II Turbo.

New Generation Leftovers
The previous game's subtitle remains as a leftover announcer voice clip.
A leftover rain sound from New Generation, where it was heard during one of the round variations of Dudley's stage.
Parry Minigame
These sounds suggest that the "Let's Practice Parrying" bonus game was originally planned to be playable with two players, but in the actual game it's single-player only.
Unknown Female Fighter Voicelines
Female fighter sounds of unknown usage. They possibly belong to Makoto, who, as mentioned in an interview, was initially planned to be in 2nd Impact but was cut very late in development and later added in 3rd Strike.
Akuma
Akuma saying "Gouzanku!", the name of his air fireball special attack.
Ken
Voice lines belonging to Ken. The last one would later be used for one of Ryu's fight intros in Marvel vs. Capcom.
Elena
Elena saying "I feel the spirits".
Urien
A Japanese voice line from Urien. "Yokoso shin no teiou!" ("Welcome the new emperor!") Oddly enough, this didn't get an English voice translation in 3rd Strike.
Yang
A myriad of grunts from Yang.
Regional Differences
- Hugo's third Super Art is called Hammer Mountain (ハンマーマウンテン) in the Japanese version, in the US version it's called Hammer Frenzy. This difference was carried to 3rd Strike, but other future games with Hugo kept the Japanese version's name.

- In the Japanese version, the text shown before the ball-parrying bonus game says "Let's BLOCKING!", but in the US version it says "Let's practice PARRYING!". Note that parrying is called blocking (ブロッキング) in Japan.

- In the Japanese version, Urien's animation when losing a round by Time Over has him strongly grab his biceps, to the point of hurting himself and squirting out blood. The blood was removed in the US version, this change was also carried to 3rd Strike.

- In the Japanese version, Akuma's defeat portrait has him vomit out natural-colored red blood. In the US version, his blood is green... why green? Who knows, but it indeed looks weird.
