Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular
Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular |

Also known as: Donald Duck (JP), Snoopy (US title screen) This game has unused graphics. |
Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular is a port of Alternative World Games for the Commodore 64, except with less games and starring the Peanuts gang (or Donald Duck and co. in Japan; yes, it's one of those games) for some reason.

Unused Graphics
Charlie Brown
US | Japan |
---|---|
Unused sprites of Charlie Brown, who (along with the rest of the human Peanuts characters) is oddly absent from the game itself. They are found just below the ones used for the Pogo event, so it's likely that he was meant to be used there, perhaps waiting for Snoopy and Spike at the finish line since his sprites face left. The other two sprites would've probably been used once Snoopy or Spike crossed the finish line. It's also quite likely that he would have shared Woodstock's palette, since Woodstock uses two colors and the third color could have simply been a flesh-like one.
In the Japanese version, Charlie's spot is instead occupied by the text ゲーム (game).
Unused Title Graphic
An image of Snoopy on a bike. Its position in the tileset suggests it was used as a title image before being replaced with the big Snoopy in the bowtie.
Junk Data
Interestingly, in the Japanese version the 4th PRG ROM bank is padded with graphics from an early version of Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu, another Kemco game. These graphics reveal both a spelling error and a subtitle that were removed from the final version of the game.
Regional Differences
All Disney characters were replaced with Peanuts ones in localization (Donald with Snoopy, Daisy with Spike, and Huey, Dewey, and Louie with Woodstock) because Kemco's Disney video game rights at the time were only applicable in Japan. (This would also explain Mickey Mouse II, Mickey Mouse III, and Mickey Mouse IV's international identity crises.)
