Robopon Sun, Star, and Moon Versions
Robopon Sun, Star, and Moon Versions |
---|
Also known as: Robot Ponkottsu - Sun, Star, and Moon Versions (JP) This game has unused graphics. This game has a prototype article This game has a Data Crystal page |
Robopon is notable for being Hudson Soft's take on "Pokémon, but with robots". It's also notable for having been screwed over by the localizers, as while the original pair featured Sun and Star versions, only the former came out publicly. The latter was fully-localized however, and can be found in the leaked Nintendo Lotcheck, but for whatever reason it was simply never released.
This page will cover all versions of Sun and Star, as well as the Japan-only Moon and Comic BomBom versions, which are all ostensibly the same game, with the latter two only being marginally graphically updated.

Unobtainable Items
Both of the trophies awarded to the player by Grandpa Hogle go unseen in the English version. The gold one cannot be obtained legitimately, since English Star was never shipped, making it impossible for one to catch every Robopon. As for the silver trophy, it plainly goes unused, since it didn't fit in anymore due to the extra Moon-exclusive Robopon no longer being counted in the completion total.

Unobtainable Robopon
To do: Find out if the remaining Robopon have English descriptions. |
Due to the English version of Star never being shipped proper, catching every Robopon is impossible, which causes their entries to go completely unseen.
The custom Robopon that is gifted by Janet at the end of the Elite 8 trading sequence also differs between versions. In Sun, it's a golden Sunny, and in Star it's a silvery C-Cell.
The latter is a Boot type that has the Ice attribute, and will at the same level as the Gigo that was traded to Janet.
