At least six playable demos of the game were made available, with five being built during development. In addition, three full prototypes of the game were released.

Test Drive Demo The earliest known publicly playable version of the game.

August 5th, 1999 build A preview version built roughly a month and a half before the final build. This version was sent out by SCEA and SCEI for preview purposes.

August 14th, 1999 build A preview version built over a month before the final build. This version was sent out by SCEA and SCEE for preview purposes. It is the first of two pre-release builds distributed by SCEE, from the pink "Preview Version" disc.

September 3rd, 1999 build A review version built roughly three weeks before the final build. This version was sent out by SCEA and SCEE for review purposes. It is the last pre-release build distributed by SCEE, from the red "Review Version" disc.
