This page details one or more prototype versions of Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back.

Two demos of the game were made available during development. In addition, four full prototypes of the game were released.

This version was first playable at E3 1997 and was later repurposed as a preview, sent out by SCEA and SCEE for preview purposes. It is the first of two pre-release builds to be distributed by SCEE, from a black-label disc marked "V2".

Bear It Demo
The earliest publicly playable demo of the game, bundled with demo compilation discs released in Europe and Australia.

A review version. It contains a lot of small differences.

The European review version dated just one day after the American variant, sent out exclusively by SCEE for review purposes. It is the last pre-release build distributed by SCEE, consisting of both a black-label disc marked "V3" and the red "Review Version" disc. The latter was part of newer cover designs introduced by SCEE in late 1997 for press builds at the time.
