See, this is why game preservation is important.
This game is defunct.
Do note the game no longer works at all without modifications. This is most likely due to the game's servers being shut down (as of July 14, 2015). As a result, further official developments with the game are unlikely to happen.
This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
Hmmm...
To do:
*On some much older revisions of the NFS World Wiki (before it was renamed to Fandom), there's mentions of unused text.
  • Man...this page needs a lotta fill in to do

While waiting to develop their next project, EA Black Box created an open-world racing game featuring the districts of Most Wanted and Carbon.

Unused/Unreleased Cars & Presets

AAA

The AAA is a test car consisting of a large spherical mesh on wheels, using the Mazda Mazdaspeed3's performance parts. Its texture files have graphics for the Nissan 240SX (S13), but only uses those for its tires.

Aston Martin DBS Volante

The vehicle is not unused per se as it could sometimes be driven by AI opponents in singleplayer events, but has three presets that could have been purchased had they been released; a blue Amerikon Speedsystems tuned variant, a stock red, and a Treasure Hunter one.

BMW

M3 (E46)

This car was available in World's closed beta available for Chinese players, and could be fitted with a bodykit and spoiler resembling the BMW M3 GTR race car. Its mesh and textures were removed at some point and the vehicle was eventually replaced by the Street version M3 GTR.

M3 GTR (E46 Race)

On the subject of M3 GTRs, the race variant first appeared in the closed alpha only to be replaced by the above mentioned car in beta builds. This car's files were mysteriously re-added near 2010's end, only to disappear in later builds.

Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454

The Super Stock preset is an unreleased Best in Class variant of the Chevelle SS, fitted with Race quality performance parts from different manufacturers.

Dodge

Charger R/T (1969)

An unreleased NFS Classic variant based on Angie's car from Carbon exists in the files, fitted with tuned Gromlen performance parts plus a Level 3 lowering kit. It would've been priced at 2400 SpeedBoost.

Charger SRT8 (LD)

The car was never made purchasable, but would've been featured as a B-class car. It has a Red and Silver variant that would've gone for SpeedBoost and in-game cash, respectively.

Ford

Mustang RTR-X

The RTR-X has an unreleased Super Stock Best in Class variant, fitted with various Race quality performance parts from different manufacturers.

Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake (S-197 II)

A blue style fitted with Amerikon Speedsystems performance parts, and an unreleased Need for Speed and Megabloks promotion. It would have been fitted with a bodykit reminiscent of its police variant in Hot Pursuit (2010) and tuned Gromlen performance parts.

Hummer H1 Alpha

Two unreleased stock variants in yellow and white colors.

Lotus Exige S

The Exige S's files once existed in the game's files, but they were removed in later builds.

Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (C10)

An unreleased art director Limited Edition variant at stock performance, featuring a unique livery and BBS RS-GT rims.

Porsche

911 Turbo S (996)

The Porsche car that first appeared in Most Wanted (2005) only to go unused in the sequel. Given Need for Speed: World was built upon Carbon, its mesh is the same as there; consisting of a single sphere.

918 RSR Concept

The car would've been sold as a light blue Amerikon Speedsystems tuned car with a livery based on its appearance in Need for Speed: The Run.

Renault Mégane Coupé

This hatchback had game files in some earlier builds of the game, but these were never used and eventually got removed.

Vauxhall Monaro VXR

It would have been featured in two variants; a red Amerikon Speedsystems tuned car and a silver stock car.

Unused Areas

By managing to go outside the world map's boundaries, it's possible to explore the connector roads that were to be opened after being finished. These were supposed to connect the Kempton, Downtown Palmont, and Downtown Rockport districts to each other via bridges or tunnels. The Rockport Turnpike also has a barrier at the tollbooth meant to connect to Need for Speed: Undercover's Tri-City. However, these were never opened prior to the game's servers closing.
