Anti Piracy

Elementary, my dear Cactus.
This needs some investigation.

Specifically: How can you trigger this?

Much like the majority of Nintendo DS games, the game will check if a legitimate copy is used, rather than a flashcard. If this fails, various negative effects will occur. First of all, the audio will be extremely (if not also crunchy) compressed. If you still decide to play a song, the audio will be covered by the (peculiar and very, very annoying) sound of vuvuzelas and before any notes even appear, the game locks up.

This was in reference to the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, where the constant blaring of vuvuzelas infamously drowned out most of the sound in the stadium, including TV commentators. The sound was widely considered to be both a nuisance and a health hazard (due to its high volume and abrasive tonality), making it a source of many jokes across the internet. BZZZZZZZZ...
