Development:Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
This page details development materials of Half-Life 2: Deathmatch.
This page or section details content from the Source Developer Asset Repository leaks. Check the Source Developer Asset Repository leaks category for more pages also sourced from this material. |
To do: Compare dm_labcore to the final's dm_steamlab. |
The Source Developer Asset Repository is a repo full of all manner of unused/early content for many Source Engine games, including Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. For someone to have gained to the repository, one must obtain a license from Valve Software at the cost of $2,500 after your project was approved for licensing, and sign a non-disclosure agreement. Despite the NDA requirement and fee, many files from the repository have been leaked online over the years, shedding some light on all sorts of odd unused concepts found in the game. Unlike all the other games, HL2DM's repository is very light, being a mere four megabytes worth of content. Nonetheless, it has something to make up for the size.

Summary
File | In-Game? | Hammer Build Date | Description |
---|---|---|---|
dm_labcore | ✗ | December 31, 2004 | A near-finalized version of dm_steamlab, which was created by Jess Cliffe of Counter-Strike fame. The name comes from the Half-Life deathmatch map datacore. What's interesting is that the map seems to have an info_player_counterterrorist entity from Counter-Strike: Source.
