Leftover Assets
Assets left in the files from WCW/nWo Revenge & the in-development build of Virtual Pro-Wrestling 2: Oudou Keishou that was being worked on at the same time as WWF WrestleMania 2000.

Super Special Finishers

Super special finishers are a concept that players of Virtual Pro-Wrestling 2 may know about. To activate them, you need to have Special active, then taunt and let the taunt finish. They are present in WrestleMania 2000 as well, albeit a bit hidden. All created wrestlers have super special finishers, but they are all set to a Bear Hug by default.

Unused Fighting Styles

Two unused fighting styles are present in the game, the Hybrid and Shoot styles. The Hybrid mode has been in the AKI engine since the first AKI wrestling game, but was basically dummied out or made redundant. The Shoot style in this game is technically early Virtual Pro-Wrestling 2 content, as VPW2 was being developed around the same time as WrestleMania 2000.

Unused Music

An unused music track was found in the ROM, which appears to be related to The Undertaker, indicating this song could have been for the game's intro sequence alongside the unused Undertaker graphics also found in the ROM.

Hidden Wrestlers

Hmmm...
To do:
The code 8109EFF0 0D01 8109EFF8 0008 reveals a chrome/silver version of the Dummy.

Playable

The Godfather's Hos only accompany him in this game. They became unlockable in WWF No Mercy. To save them into a character slot:

  • Ensure there is room in "Superstars 8".
  • Enter the edit mode with GameShark code 8109EFF0 0A01 8109EFF8 0008.
  • Switch off the code.
  • Trade the Hos to another slot.

This can also be done with the Dummy character. It uses a male 3D model, but is considered female by the game and cannot be edited. To save it, repeat the above steps with GameShark code 8109EFF0 0A09 8109EFF8 0008.

Both have simple movesets, no entrance music or video, etc. Through normal play, these models can only be used in matches by cloning a female wrestler to a creation slot, then selecting them as outfits.

Non-Playable

In addition to the Hos and the dummy, some other wrestlers were mentioned in the game's ROM data in the form of internal taunt name strings, but did not make the final cut at all.

WM2000 TauntNames1.png

  • Goldust

WM2000 TauntNames2.png

  • "Excalibar", likely a misspelling of Excalibur.
    • This was rumored to be the name Chris Jericho was going to debut with in the WWF. The only remaining source for this rumor is a Bleacher Report story from January 3rd, 2012.
  • Ali Singh, for Tiger Ali Singh.

  • Gillberg
  • Sable
  • Nicole Bass
  • Ryan, for Ryan Shamrock.

Unused Graphics

Several unused graphics are present in the ROM.

WWF Light Heavyweight Championship

The belt graphic for an oddly pink-strapped WWF Light Heavyweight Championship belt are present in the game files, but go completely unused. It can be re-enabled for use ingame with the following Gameshark codes, where it will then appear underneath the WWF Women's Championship:

D1165B10 7B01
D116EB32 0006
8116EB32 0007
D1165B10 7B00

8125D1C0 7B07
D125D138 7B06
D125D1AA 0001

Do note that this belt is not set up to be used in Road to WrestleMania mode, but can be used in Exhibition matches.

Steve Blackman Titantron Animation

An unused 4 frame Titantron animation of Steve Blackman doing a leg sweep to Phil Lafon can be found in the ROM. The footage is from the November 3rd, 1997 episode of WWF Monday Night Raw, where Blackman debuted, jumping in from the crowd to assist Vader during a beatdown from Doug Furnas, Phil LaFon, the British Bulldog and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. Interestingly, the footage used in the animation is shot from a different angle than what was shown on TV. Not much of a mystery though as WWE (then WWF) is known for having many cameras rolling during production, so alternate angles of footage wouldn't have been hard to come by.

Undertaker Animation

8 unused animation frames featuring The Undertaker, likely intended to be used in the intro sequence, can be found in the ROM. It appears that The Undertaker was meant to play a bigger part in the intro sequence of the game, and maybe even be more of an antagonist in the Road to WrestleMania portion of the game.

Undertaker Intro Textures

Several other Undertaker-related textures can be found in the ROM. First up, four images that were likely designed to flash up on the screen at some point. The faces in the last 3 images is The Undertaker.

There's also some several spooky cinematic assets related to Undertaker;

Microphone Weapons

Elementary, my dear Cactus.
This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: are these leftovers from Revenge or VPW?

Two unused microphone weapon graphics exist in the ROM.

Computer Intelligence Edit Mode

Hmmm...
To do:
Get further insight on these options and see if they save and what exactly, if anything, they do.

A normally unselectable Computer Intelligence mode can be accessed using the following GameShark codes:

It should be noted that Virtual Pro-Wrestling 2: Oudou Keishou, which is based on WrestleMania 2000, has this available in its Edit mode.

In the regular Edit Mode, select any wrestler and press Z on the main character editing screen. The selection will become bigger and blink slower. Press A to enter it. From here, you can change around any wrestler's AI settings in detail.

If you leave this menu, the normal option will appear underneath the "Fighting Style" option until you exit the wrestler's edit menu.

Type

This option has six general types of AI: Power, Tecnique (sic), Flying, Rough, Single-Minded, and Striking.

Attack to Stand

There are two choices under this category; Early Stage and Final Stage. Both options have a choice of Striking, Grappling, and Flying.

Attack to Down

There are also "Early Stage" and "Final Stage" choices here, but the options are different. You can choose from Striking, Submission, Flying, and Up.

Finish

This gives you a choice of moves from the wrestler's movelist that you can choose from, presumably as a finishing move. If you try to edit anyone that's not a Create-A-Wrestler, it gives you the "Not Able to Edit" message, but this is more in reference to editing the wrestler's moves than choosing a different finisher for them.

Attacking

This section has a choice of five options, but most of the options are blank, except the middle one with what looks to be a stray Japanese character. Further testing shows that this function determines how often the computer player strikes or grapples.

  • 1st box: Always Strikes (Makes the computer strike very often)
  • 2nd box: Mainly Strikes (Makes the computer strike often with occasional grapples)
  • 3rd box: Balanced (Balances out the amount of striking and grappling)
  • 4th box: Mainly Grapples (Makes the computer grapple often with occasional strikes)
  • 5th box: Always Grapples (Makes the computer grapple very often)

Response to Striking

This brings a list of three choices; Good, Normal, and Bad.

Response to Grappling

This also brings up a list of three choices; Good, Normal, and Bad.

Balance

The choices list here determine the computer player's balance between attacking and defending.

  • 1st box: Aggressive/Always Attacks (Constantly attacking, doesn't defend often)
  • 2nd box: Attacking/Mainly Attacks (Attacks quite a bit, and only defends themselves a bit)
  • 3rd box: Balanced
  • 4th box: Defensive/Mainly defends (Attacks the opponent when they're unable to respond)
  • 5th box: Super Defensive/Always defends (Waits for the opponent to attack and won't attack often when their opponent is active)

Ring Out

There is a choice of five different options here, but every single one of them are blank. These choices determine how the opponent will act if they're outside the ring.

  • 1st box: Calm (Gets back in the ring as soon as possible)
  • 2nd box: Normal
  • 3rd box: Aggressive
  • 4th box: Very Aggressive (More likely to grab a weapon)
  • 5th box: Fly

Appeal

There is a choice of three different options here, but again, all of them are blank. These set of choices determine how often the computer will taunt.

  • 1st box: Often
  • 2nd box: Normal
  • 3rd box: Rare (The computer will only taunt if their attitude meter is flashing and if their opponent is down)

Regional Differences

In the Japanese version, the unlockable wrestlers are already available.
