Tekken 4 is considered to be the black sheep of the franchise due to changes such as the Position Change as well as fighting in closed, uneven arenas.

- Name call outs for characters from previous games that aren't in Tekken 4: Anna Williams, Jun Kazama, Forest Law, Ganryu, Gun Jack, Armor King, Michelle Chang, Baek Doo San, Jack-2, Bruce Irvin, Kunimitsu, Tetsujin, Mokujin, Wang Jinrei, Prototype Jack, Devil, Angel, Ogre, True Ogre, Roger, Alex, Tiger, Doctor Bosconovitch and Unknown.
- Name call out for Kinjin, an unused name for Tetsujin's gold palette swap in Tekken Tag Tournament.
- Name call out for Enjin, which was most likely meant to be a new Mokujin variant.
- Name call out for Jinpachi Mishima. He may have been meant to appear in Tekken 4, but he wasn't introduced until the next game, Tekken 5, as the final boss.
- Name call outs for Koguma (小熊, lit. "A cub" or "Small Bear/Kuma) and Kopanda (小パンダ, lit. Small Panda). It's unknown what these were meant for.
- Name call outs for Dr. Abel and the Tekken Force (As well as the Japanese name, Tekkenshu).

- Different takes of the announcer saying "Go!" and "Fight!". The former can be heard in an early trailer.

- Announcer takes of "New Record!" and "Congratulations!" which were most likely meant to be used for the results screen.
- Announcer take of "The King Of Iron Fist Tournament 4" and "Tekken 4." The former was to be used in the character select screen, but replaced with "Welcome to The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4." The latter was used in a Japanese commercial.
- Announcer take of "Welcome to the Practice Arena!" and an alternate take on "Welcome to The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4!" The former was used in the PS2 version.
- Announcer takes of ""The King of Iron Fist Tournament Final Battle" and "The King of Iron Fist Tournament Final Stage". These are early takes for the cut scene before the final stage.
- Two more alternate takes of "Welcome to The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4".
Regional Differences
- Hwoarang speaks English and Japanese in the Japanese version of the game. In the international version, he speaks Korean.
