SimplifiedChinese Life of Crime career

Snapshot of a Simplified Chinese copy. Is "life of crime in China is a full mime job" a myth to be busted?

This, coupled with the uncovering of "Life of Mime" strings being found in The Sims 2. I think it's safe to say that the original The Sims having its Life of Crime career altered in Mainland China was an error made by EA in the article where this was first brought into the spotlight (the article in question).

So I think the time has come to remove that to-do from the to-do list.

A new way to arrange the page

I think we should split up the Asian Version differences and Japanese versions into two Sub-Pages from the main page for better organization and to save space. SodaDog (talk) 19:39, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

While I understand the need to compress pages, and I agree that the Asian Differences sub-page needs to be better organized, I don't think splitting it into even more sub-pages as-is is the right answer. I think that before we could even consider doing such a thing, the Regional Differences page(s) would need to be refactored.

The regional differences that we have up on the page at the moment can be put into one of two categories;

  • Release Differences; with changes made to the files included on the disc for a specific regional release, think the changes made to the lots in the European and Asian releases, or the exclusive skins in the Japanese version.
  • Language Differences; with the changes being present on all releases, but enabled and disabled by the game depending on what the game's language is set to in the Windows Registry, think the different splash screens for the different languages that game was translated to.

As it is right now, these categories are intermingled with one another, with no real differentiation between the two, coupled with the fact that subjects that should be grouped together (Japanese Splash Screens and Neighborhood Sign) are on entirely separate pages. It creates a disjointed and overall sloppy experience, and one that I intend to address in the near future.
