To do: Check for unused shaders, models, and textures. The game uses Descent's .pig file format, so opening and exploring the files should be easy. |
The 1998 Centipede is an odd remake where your character, Wally, is kidnapped from his home by a wizard with a divining rod and two thugs. They then force you into a ship, making you fight bugs in order to save the helium-huffing people of Weedom.

Development Logs
DATA.TAG
While the game is supposedly finalized with the data tag stating the version to be "1.00.000", the misc portion is marked PRE_RELEASE_DO_NOT_DISTRIBUTE.
Game.seq
A development revision log that indicates Centipede was in development as far back as December 1997 by Chris Green, Leaping Lizard's head of R&D and one of the game's Senior Programmers. It also mentions three .lvl files. In the final game, .lvl files contain the level data, however c9l1, c9l2, and c9l3 do not exist.

Txtr.ctr
A revision log along the same lines as Game.seq, this file contains a much more extensive list beginning at August 21, 1998 and ending on October 3 of that year. Interestingly enough, the game was released just 28 days later. The file also contains a detailed debugger's guide on how to use the game's internal texture control feature. For the file itself, please refer to the notes page.
Game.log
Another leftover development file which appears to show a log of compressions and their offsets. Where this file applies to is currently unknown. To view the file, see the notes page.
Unused Sounds
To do: I'm almost certain there are a few more unused sounds, but I'm lazy so here's a note. |
