One of the PlayStation's earliest successes, WipEout is a series of futuristic racers, where you take control of anti-gravity ships and collect various weapons and power-ups scattered around the tracks to help you against the competition, while an assorted selection of techno and electronic music plays in the background.
All the games in the series were developed by Psygnosis/SCEE Studio Liverpool, until their death in 2012, which also put the series into an indefinite hiatus... that is, until 2017, with the release of the WipEout Omega Collection on PlayStation 4, largely developed by many former Studio Liverpool staff. Whether this'll lead to a proper new game, nobody knows.
