Yakuza Kiwami is a modern remake of the original PS2 game. Kiwami means "extreme", by the way.

Leftover Game Modes
Disco Dancing
To do: Double check just how much is left over from 0, and if at all possible, to get it working in Kiwami itself. |
Leftover files exist for the dancing minigame from the prior game, Yakuza 0, including its UI, the beatmaps and the camera transitions.
Unused Models
Yoshitaka Mine
c_cm_mine.gmd Yakuza 3's main antagonist. He may have been a character in a substory (which was cut), like how Yakuza 2's main antagonist, Ryuji Goda, was a substory character in Yakuza 0.
Unused Moves
To do: Record footage of Hayashi's beta moveset. |
Hiroshi Hayashi
Hayashi's moveset was originally Keiji Shibusawa's Beast style instead of Shigeki Baba's moveset like it is in the final game. Why it was changed is unknown, especially when Shibusawa's Beast moveset bears greater resemblance to Hayashi's PS2 moveset than Baba.
Takamori Saigo?
The entire moveset of Kichinosuke/Takamori Saigo from Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! is leftover in the files, completely unused. The only thing missing is his stance.
Regional Differences
To do: Can someone provide audio of the music tracks that are different between versions like what the Yakuza 0 page has? |
The Japanese version of the game features the songs "Receive You [Reborn]" and "BLEED" by Japanese singer Koshi Inaba, both of which are removed from almost all international releases due to licensing issues and replaced by original compositions. The Switch version would later restore these as optional toggles for all regional versions. These changes affect the game's intro cutscene, another cutscene very early in the game and the game's ending credits scene.
