Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Bose is the second game in the Xenosaga trilogy. Many changes are in store for this installment, with more life-like character models (I.E., less anime-like), new English voice actors for the characters, a European release, and some internal shuffling of staff members, leading to a game that is fairly different than its predecessor, but with the same gameplay and epic feel.

Debug Menus

Apply the below code to re-enable debug menus. Note that the script debug menu and the main debug menu only half work in the USA version. The script debug menu doesn't work in the JP version and the main debug menu is not found in the JP version either. The script loader only works in the JP version as the "think" script files were removed from the USA version. Refer to the game's notes page for valid battle debug menu scripts for the "think" files and the script debug menu.

  • Select for Battle Debug Menu.
  • L3 for Script Debug.
  • L2 + R2 for Main Debug Menu (USA only).
  • R3 to disable debug menus (only works in some menus).

Debug Information

Xenosaga Episode II-Debuginfo.png

This reports various system statistics. It also will render debug menu text.

Main Debug Menu

Xenosaga Episode II-Debugmenu1.png Xenosaga Episode II-Debugmenu2.png Xenosaga Episode II-Debugmenu3.png Xenosaga Episode II-Debugmenu4.png

Strangely enough, this is only present in the USA version of the game. Unfortunately not many options work here since this menu requires a network mode pointing to several files on a computer. Viewing the font file, system memory locations, and pad information work. No other options do.

Battle Debug Menu

Xenosaga Episode II-Debugmenu5.png Xenosaga Episode II-Debugmenu6.png Xenosaga Episode II-Debugmenu7.png

This allows you to set battle parameters, choose monster sets to fight, the area to fight in, and set character statuses. Setting muteki (invincibility) on doesn't work. The menu only works in the Japanese version.

Script Debug Menu

This allows you to load map files, although this doesn't work correctly any more and will crash the game after one use. Only works in the USA version.

Regional Differences

  • The Patriarch of Ormus was originally called The Pope in the Japanese version.
  • In a scene where Albedo demonstrates regeneration by destroying his head, the Japanese version has him use a gun. The International version changes the scene to have him use an orb of energy instead.
