This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

X-COM: Terror from the Deep is the first sequel to X-COM: UFO Defense.

While Mythos Games decided to work on a larger-scope sequel, Microprose decided to work on a short-term successor. In many ways Terror from the Deep is a reskinned UFO Defense, but with new mechanics and additions as well as a new story.

Hmmm...

Unused Graphics

TFTD launcher.gif
TFTD launcher ammo.gif

An unused launcher weapon and its ammo. The true purpose of this weapon is unknown as no code remains for it.

Unused Items

There is an alternate Gauss ammunition for crafts at offset 0xD2. In the final game, all Gauss weapons use the same ammunition, whether they are tanks, crafts, or personal weapons. If the game is modified, it is possible to unlock this alternate ammunition.

It has a production cost of $10,000 and a selling price of $53,000, making it essentially an exploit to craft and sell it.

Unused Weapons

There is an unused weapon with offset 38 / 0x26. This weapon deals 140 shock damage, and is a leftover from Enemy Unknown as it matches the weapon used by the Celatid.

Unused Ranks

If you hack an alien to join your side, you will notice they have peculiar ranks. The effect of these ranks is currently unknown.

  • "Units in Target Entrance" is used primarily by alien soldiers.
  • "Units in Target Exit" is used primarily by terror units.

The name of the rank is drawn from other strings and thus the name itself is irrelevant.
