Do note the game no longer works at all without modifications. This is most likely due to the game's servers being shut down (as of 2001). As a result, further official developments with the game are unlikely to happen.

X-COM: First Alien Invasion is a two-player entry in Hasbro Interactive's Em@il Games lineup of Play-by-Email turn-based games. It is a drastically trimmed-down version of standard X-COM, taking place on a one-screen battlefield with small squads of humans vs. aliens.

The servers were shut down in 2001, making the game mostly dead these days.

Typing DEV on any screen will add a fifth (untitled) tab to the Options menu, which shows the above image on an otherwise-blank panel. The code to unlock this suggests that the image is an illustration of the game developers (and one otherworldly visitor).
