New public template staff discussion?

The "RemovedUnusedContent" template I created was removed because it wasn't discussed with staff beforehand

Where am I supposed to talk to staff about adding this? It's about to become relevant for an unknown amount of stuff in Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, as the next patch is likely to remove a lot of the unused content from the files and I'd like to be able to use this template without having to copy-paste the entire box into the page source every single time

I also made this public because this definitely seems like something that other games in the past and future would deal with, and if someone wanted to rip anything that has been removed from the files, it would be good to let them know before they spend time looking for something that doesn't exist --OpenSauce (talk) 14:12, 26 January 2022 (UTC)

Just contact one of us on our talk page or via DMs on other platforms, like this. About having such template on the wiki, for now consider it a no, I've pointed out this discussion to other staff members and I'll post any other eventual updates here. Speaking of copy-pasting the box on the page or using a template to report that info, in my opinion I think it's a lot simpler to just write that in textual form inside the affected section (e.g. just This file has been removed in version 1.2.3. at the end of a paragraph about it), and would be less vague than a generic This section contains content that was unused, but was removed from the files via an update.. --ΓBSOD 14:44, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
Alright then, thanks for the response --OpenSauce (talk) 15:16, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
I agree with WaluigiBSOD in that documenting specific version numbers in which content is added/removed is the best way to go. This has been the standard practice in the Minecraft article for some time now. --Rusty (talk) 03:16, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Broken audio embed

I have absolutely no idea how I did this, but I somehow managed to completely break the embed of a new audio file upon uploading it by moving it shortly afterwards

The file is here: https://tcrf.net/File:Fnafsb_fanfare.wav

Could you or another admin please take a look at it at some point?

Thanks in advance --OpenSauce (talk) 21:47, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Basically if you move a WAV file, you have to manually reset at least one transcode to make it playable again as the wiki doesn't do it automatically. For now I've done it for you, but it's easy to fix: click on Update transcode status in the lower part of the page and then OK at the Purge this page prompt. Then click on Reset transcode on the row that has OGG as a format and Reset at the message that appears. Then wait a bunch of seconds and it will be playable again. To avoid such problems in the future I suggest you to starting uploading your files as OGG, as per the guidelines and they need no transcode for the wiki to recognize them. --ΓBSOD 22:12, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
Alright thanks, I'll use OGG for future files --OpenSauce (talk) 22:36, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Bootleg ROM hacks

Are bootleg ROM hacks like Super Mario 4 and The King of Fighters '97 (Game Boy) allowed? --SuperfishMEMZ (talk) 13:06, 12 February 2022 (UTC)

There are others on the wiki like Mario Kart (NES) and 7 Grand Dad for example, so yes. They count as unlicensed games and I think that the rule that forbids talking about ROM hacks on the wiki refers only to non-bootleg ones (see #18, going to clarify it), like random Super Mario World ROM hacks published on Internet. --ΓBSOD 13:42, 12 February 2022 (UTC)

Didn't Work

Hi, I'm the guy who keeps making bug pages for Sonic games.

I tried using your tactic for Sonic CD (2011) and it didn't work. Can you tell me what I did wrong? Thanks.

- Eggdipie 23:47, 12 February 2022 (UTC)

What I did:

==Sub-Pages==
{{namespaces}}
Bugs:Sonic the Hedgehog CD (2011)

Yoshi Sample

Hmmm...
To do:
Host on TCRF before everything goes boom?

This was one of the Todos on the Yoshi Sample article. I removed this Todo and uploaded the ROM with source code from Hidden Palace, but it then got removed and was replaced with a Hidden Palace link. --SuperfishMEMZ (talk) 04:16, 15 February 2022 (UTC)

Restored it, my bad! Gave it a better filename, however. --ΓBSOD 10:47, 15 February 2022 (UTC)

Why did you revert my WarioWare and Pac Man VS edits?

I thought they were important info.

See your talk page. --ΓBSOD 00:27, 15 March 2022 (UTC)

Why is it allowed to document that you can cheat to obtain otherwise unused items?

I thought a wiki is supposed to document legit ways to obtain an item. It seems pointless to me that we can list “you can get this item through cheating”. Of course you can cheat to get it, it’s in the game.

Yoshi’s Island (talk)

Because they make accessible things that normally aren't, it's written in the guidelines at point #5 in this page if you read them. --ΓBSOD 14:27, 17 March 2022 (UTC)

Why were my Half-Life Sub-Pages deleted?

There was a thing on the top asking for Sub-Pages, so I added them. Why the rollback? --Fuck Milk -Maggie 16:39, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

You were banned for also other things worse than these sub-pages, but replying anyway for posterity: it's just plain stupid to make an article that only consists of sub-pages. Yes, that article needs to be split in sub-pages, but it doesn't mean that everything has to be put in them. --ΓBSOD 16:57, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

Name Change

Sorry if I can't request here, but I was just told to ask on any admins page, anyway I can get my name changed to some variation of MalaBG? -Khara

Can't do it by myself (only wiki bureucrats can do it, and I'm just an admin), I'm going to pass this request to the rest of the staff. In the meanwhile, tell us there exactly what username you want. --ΓBSOD 14:45, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
Yeah id say MalaBG is fine, but if it isn't available ill take M4laBG --User:KharaNG
Completed. --From: CounterDiving (talk) 15:04, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

Is This Prerelease Info Suitable?

Hi!

I wanted to mention a thing on BULLY's Prerelease page.
That being the website including screenshots only found by changing the URL, and, in particular, how a specific section of the site might have changed to feature different content, based on the names of the screenshots. --SimonBestia (talk) 10:35, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

Ciao SimonBestia, I believe both are ok to talk about on the wiki. Speaking of the former, you can also upload them on the wiki if you want. --ΓBSOD 10:48, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

RE: Prerelease screenshots

Understood, I will now use the appropriate tags in the right contexts.
