Chainsaw Maniac

Just wondering, but have you seen the Friday the 13th movies? Jason uses machetes, axes, or other blunt instruments to kill people. A chainsaw is... well, too complicated for him. If anything, the European maniac is the one that looks more like Jason than the US one. I'm thinking of reverting your comment, but I want to make sure we see eye to eye on this. :) // Foxhack 16:11, 4 November 2012 (EST)

The popular image of Jason is a hockey mask--wearing man with a chainsaw (like the US maniac), that's why the edit. You can revert it if you want to though. -N. Onymous 16:20, 4 November 2012 (EST)

Thank you. I see BMF has reverted the text. I just wanted to make sure you were OK with this, and didn't want look like I wanted to revert it just for the heck of it. // Foxhack 17:25, 4 November 2012 (EST)
He looks like Jason with or without the chainsaw, though. If they were really worried about that, they would have given him a different mask or something. I'm certain it has something to do with the chainsaw itself. --BMF54123 16:24, 4 November 2012 (EST)
Which would make sense, given the whole "ate my neighbors" purge and the green Game Over screen. Maybe they were worried the German rating board would pitch a fit. -N. Onymous 16:26, 4 November 2012 (EST)
European countries tend to have all sorts of odd (to foreigners, anyway) rules for things you can't put in video games (see: Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Probotector, Castlevania: The New Generation), and Germany is no exception, though I suspect most of their rules stem from laws passed in the aftermath of WWII. There's at least one entire website dedicated to stuff that was specifically removed from German versions of games, but nowhere else. --BMF54123 17:15, 4 November 2012 (EST)
The USK formed the same year Zombies came out there, although I don't know exactly what day they were formed. Somehow, I doubt USK actually rated Zombies, although Germany had pretty strict rules in terms of content featured in games (as they were once seen as a kids' medium). --From: divingkataetheweirdo 17:28, 4 November 2012 (EST)
Fun fact: The Wii release of Zombies was rated 12 by the USK in September 2009. // Foxhack 17:42, 4 November 2012 (EST)
Foreigners? Man, I live right next to the US and you're all sorts of weird to us Mexicans, with your gun obsession and the fear of boobies... ;) Anyway, I've read up on some films that have been banned by the BBFC in the UK, and one of them comes to mind immediately: The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Maybe they wanted to prevent someone from pitching a fit because of how similar this guy is to Leatherface. (Edit: adding that to the article now.) // Foxhack 17:32, 4 November 2012 (EST)

Speculation

Please avoid adding speculation to articles unless you have compelling evidence to back it up! (For example, if Shellos and Gastrodon's cries were identical to these unused ones in later games.) --GlitterBerri (talk) 01:57, 20 December 2013 (EST)

Final Fantasy Legend credits text boxes

Well, maybe it is just my poor language knowedge, but I can't see any "blank text boxes" during the ending cutscene. I'd rather say there are "invisible text boxes". See this video (jump to 3:37:00) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5dBzWq-I2c --Crocodile91 (talk) 13:57, 23 October 2015 (EDT)

On checking, you're right. I changed it to something a bit more accurate. N. Onymous (talk) 17:53, 23 October 2015 (EDT)

edit I made that you removed

Where should I post this thing I tried to include to the regional differences of 'Zombies Ate My Neighbors', if I should be posting 'in-game things only'? Needless to say, this was regarding the game's two different artworks per region. AndrewSturley (talk) 13:53, 12 December 2015 (EST)AndrewSturley

Not on this wiki? We document unused content and regional differences here, not out-of-game stuff. N. Onymous (talk) 02:33, 13 December 2015 (EST)

Bomberman (NES)

Learn English first, little, and you're not spoiling things for others. --Karstamp (talk) 03:03, 7 May 2016 (EDT)

--From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 03:10, 7 May 2016 (EDT)

Don't delete the translation tags

Those are used by the translation tool plug-in to mark sections to be translated. It can be pretty irritating when you remove those. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 21:57, 11 May 2016 (EDT)

Sorry, didn't mean to. It was the result of an editing conflict. N. Onymous (talk) 16:26, 12 May 2016 (EDT)

Translation rules regarding fluency

Hello, I noticed some of the translations you've provided to the wiki have not been entirely accurate. Please review the Translation Rules regarding minimum levels of fluency. If you don't think you can provide a 100% accurate translation, but think it's close enough to get the main idea across, so long as it was not done via machine translation, please leave the translation on the article's talk page instead. Thank you. -- Bast (talk) 04:35, 19 February 2017 (EST)

Grammar

If you're going to write on someone's talk page about their grammar, you should at least be willing to clean up their edit(s). Furthermore, it appears as though SplattedbyKirby2 does not natively speak English. Errors in non-native speaking English edits are permissible per the rules you quoted on their talk page. You can't just edit someone's talk page and expect them to be able to fix their English to a native level, with or without your help. -Ehm (talk) 13:11, 11 March 2017 (EST)

Thank you for helping me out with translating stuff into English

Thank you for translating the Japanese weekly puzzles in Unwound Future into English. I appreciate your help. If you like, you can help me out with uploading images of different puzzles between the Japanese, US, and European versions. I'm not good at uploading pictures to this site at the moment. A Normal Lost Phone

Hi, I just wanted to say: Thank you so much for translating the comments!! I wasn't expecting them to be translated by someone so quickly, given the sheer number of them and the fact that the game isn't particularly well-known. Please accept my gratitude! :)

Also; do you mind if I add your username to the 'tcrf source' templates on the pages? It's totally fine if you don't want that; either way, I'll be editing them to clarify that it wasn't me that did the translations. --periaster (talk · contribs) 08:10, 22 November 2017 (EST)

Editing Descriptions

Last time I checked, adding descriptions where there weren't any before is completely acceptable. Sure, the Undertale description was too inflammatory, but the addition itself wasn't the issue. I'm going to fix it. --8SomaCruzes (talk) 19:42, 27 March 2018 (EDT)

Ristar (Game Gear) - About your 2015 comment on the Talk Page

Hello N. Onymous! I am currently working on the Ristar (Game Gear) prototype pages, and I decided to check out the talk section of the official Ristar (Game Gear) page. You mentioned an enemy that came from the aquatic levels of the Genesis version, but stands out from the level it actually is in. Can you please elaborate a bit? Do you have a picture of what it looks on the Genesis? Reason why I ask this is because I never actually played the Genesis version, therefore your comment on the talk page didn't click with me. I know it's been 3 years, but could you get back to me? Thank you. Tanner (talk) 10:38, 15 November 2018 (EST)

It's an enemy that doesn't exist in the Genesis version, but it basically looks like a fire-breathing black ball with a grass skirt and visible lips. "Native/islander" stereotype, like I said. It shows up on Planet Automaton in both games, so I was just assuming it was featured in the cut stage, and that level was removed as a very half-assed attempt at not stepping on anyone's toes. I based that comment on conjecture when I knew barely anything about the cut stage, and I know very slightly more about it now (mostly that it uses the song "Ring Rink" from the Genesis game). N. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening Switch Remake

I removed the stuff you added to the Link's Awakening GB(C) version differences subpage because we feel that's not the best place to document the changes in the remake (it's not really a different "version" of the game, being remade from the ground up for a completely different console and all). We don't yet have an article for the remake, but once we do, please feel free to document the changes on a subpage there. --BMF54123 (talk) 05:19, 24 September 2019 (EDT)

DuckTales

I appreciate your eagerness to move information around, but copying things to the earlier build's page and replacing the original text with "the stuff from the older page still applies" isn't very useful, especially when a lot of the information copied is wrong.

For example, you moved the money section over, but the earlier build doesn't even have red diamonds, and there is no cheat to refill life, making that section completely incorrect. --Xk-sig.png Xkeeper (talk) 22:56, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Well, that's why you do your research before you go wild with moving stuff around, I guess. Sorry for the mix-up. N. Onymous (talk) 02:50, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

La-Mulana Demo

Thanks for the help on translation of the Samieru developer message! --Gmestanley (talk) 03:49, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

Splatoon Splatfest Data

Hi, I was wondering what Splatoon Splatfest data you had? I noticed in the past you had updated the page with a few Splatfests, they'd be great to have for archival purposes. --DiamondCreeper23 (talk) 03:36, 21 March 2022 (UTC)

I don't have any of the data myself, that comes from Inkipedia. I realize that's probably not the best look, but I have verified that the unused quotes I added are real. N. Onymous (talk) 06:35, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

Zombieville 1997's TCRF Entry Intro

Greetings! Thanks to wanting to contribute to my Zombieville entry! I understand that this entry's intro was a bit longer than usual, but by removing everything to make a 1 sentence intro doesn't seem to do justice. I did not intend for the intro to sound like a 'review', but I've made the intro a bit long to bring in much needed context, given with the game's obscurity, development history, press coverage, and plethora of unused contents.

Plus, I have some upcoming materials that I'll be posting throughout this entry that will tie in with the entry's intro. So what I'll do is undo your changes and keep the longer intro for now. If you'd like, you can help shorten it by summarizing the long intro in a handful of sentences while keeping most of the important details. Thanks again! --Contact The Jeff (talk) 15:55, 21 January 2023 (UTC)

Mickey Mania 7's TCRF Page

Sorry I don't know how to get the 256×240 screenshots of nes game, even i know the rules of these photos.I really just want make more people to know them.I was absolutely no intention to break the rules. And you says the grammar sucks,I put a lot of time and effort into getting them (The parts that I submitted myself.), and it's not an easy thing to do.So can I delete or change that message ok?(not cheat codes,i also think its not to be here too now.) --Space Travo (talk) 15:37, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Space_Travo (talk)

Don't worry, you're good. I know you weren't trying to break the rules. The page I linked you has instructions for making sure the images you upload follow the deadlines. It's pretty easy when you know what you're doing. Give it a quick read. The "sucks" template is just a notice telling editors the page requires cleanup to meet the website's quality standard. It's not an insult, just letting others know that the writing and pages need some help. N. Onymous (talk) 17:48, 28 October 2023 (UTC)

Sweeps about grammar

Thank you for your help, as well as for the hint. Even though you gave me a link to a site where grammar is checked, it still doesn't always save the situation from the fact that there are mistakes. --AlexFanGames231 (talk) 11:33, 08 February 2024 (UTC)

Not a problem. The grammar website won't catch everything, so that's why it's important to double-check with somebody who's more fluent. Computers can't replace a human touch, no matter how hard the tech industry tries to push that narrative. N. Onymous (talk) 11:40, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

SonicCD-GameFileMenu-Proof.png

I'll also throw you a proof that the correct thing to do is "MenuGfx1_EN.gif" instead of "MenuGFX_EN.gif," because there is simply no such file in the game files.

I deleted that part on accident lol. It happens. N. Onymous (talk) 22:23, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

Yes, it happens. By the way, do you know how to make a "Prototype" and "About development" page correctly? AlexFanGames231 (talk) 19:44, 10 February 2024 (UTC)

Just make a page with the same name as the base page but with "Prototype:" or "Development:" in front of the title (no space between the title and the comma). N. Onymous (talk) 00:07, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip. By the way, can you check out the Desert Dazzle subsection in Sonic CD, as well as the Development Info? We just need to make the organization of pages and files clearer and more logical. Also, if it's not difficult, check the ports of Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 (2013) for correctness? It just seems to me that the Lite version of Sonic CD should be moved to the Demo section. AlexFanGames231 (talk) 9:04, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do N. Onymous (talk) 09:09, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
