Pokemon EGM Article
Hey, great find with the Ho-oh palette image in that Electronic Gaming Monthly article. This information connects so many dots for the title screen's development. According to the website that you linked, Retromags has uncompressed versions of the scans available. You have to sign up to see/download them, which I have done. Hopefully I can get some higher quality images and put up better quality versions of the G/S screenshots. (I will also note that an issue of Corocoro has many of the same screenshots minus Ho-oh, but some of them are overlapped by Pokemon art.) --Catstorm (talk) 15:17, 19 September 2017 (EDT)
- Small update: I accessed the higher quality scans (and added Ho-Oh to the page), but unfortunately it seems like the rest of the screenshots in EGM are washed-out and somewhat blurry. For these I think current screenshots with the watermarks are still better - they are more 'pixel-perfect'. Like I said above, Corocoro could also be a secondary source for unwatermarked pictures. I may look into that. --Catstorm (talk) 22:37, 19 September 2017 (EDT)
- No problem - glad to be of help! I re-read this article several times when it came out as I was super excited about the then-upcoming Pokémon sequels - as a result I was pretty familiar with its contents. I always remember my confusion when I got the game and the title screen was just in silhouette! Saw the glitched palette screenshot that was on here and was sure I remembered seeing the correct version - thought my memory must be playing tricks, but found those scans and was surprised to see it just as I remembered it! A shame to hear the other screenshots are washed-out and blurry - I guess sticking with the existing ones for the others is the best course of action in that case. I think a couple of the other screenshots on the article's first page aren't on this page, though, so it may be worth adding them regardless of quality. Apologies if they're on here and I've just missed them - not had too much time to trawl through the page as of yet! --McAleeCh (talk) 10:00, 20 September 2017 (GMT)
