MegaTen Wiki Stuff

The MegaTen wiki over on Wikia seems to have status screen art for the Strega members' Personas, which would be otherwise unused. (Presumably this would also exist in the original release of P3 too.) Could someone confirm that? Miles of SmashWiki (talk) 05:23, 7 April 2014 (EDT)

Texture Oddity?

The listed "Texture Oddity" states "However, her sketchbook is only ever seen from the back" as the explanation for the unused content. I played the game using a PCSX2 emulator with improved graphics and was able to see and identify the sketch of Tartarus multiple times throughout the game, so if the graphic is truly unused content, it may be better to state it is "unused" because the PS2's graphics are too poor resolution to make out the image. Seeing as it is later determined in canon that Chidori was drawing Junpei, the image may just be a placeholder sketch/concept art of Tartarus used to give a general texture of the sketchbook. I do not have a physical PS2 to test this on, so someone else may want to see if the graphic counts as "unused" or not on console. --Napstablook (talk) 02:04, 19 July 2019 (EDT)

New Discovery

I recently discovered something when I used a cheat code. patch=1,EE,10836276,extended,00000A0A patch=1,EE,40836278,extended,00070001 patch=1,EE,0A0A0A0A,extended,00000000

This code gives the player max with each S.Link in the game, including three that seem to be debug/early versions. They have no portraits and are labeled as "Reserved; Persona 2 Kiryuu" in Japanese.

What's really interesting, though, is that using this code made Officer Kurosawa, the Antique Shop Lady, and Koromaru's portraits appear among the ones in the "many voices" scene in the Velvet Room towards the end of the game. This is reserved for non-party social links that have been maxed. Not sure if this is debug or cut-content. --Kasunex (talk) 17:46, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

Misc Findings

At the end of The Journey, MC's Personas are normally inaccessible. Any you have are removed and replaced with "Universe" (0x0BF). Here's a screenshot of how it would appear if you could see its summary page during that final scripted fight: https://i.imgur.com/OOSG7Fx.png If you hack it to use a normal skill in combat, it uses the placeholder Cerberus model like Fuuka's Personas. Great Seal and For Debug have no descriptions. For Debug functions like Endure but works infinitely, and Great Seal simply skips your turn.

MC has voices for all teammate's Personas except Psyche, which uses Aigis's Taraka voiceline.

Spring of Life exists in two skill IDs (0x25F and 0x260) thought both function identically. Junpei learns 0x25F but I don't know which Chidori has.

There are quite a few unused skills and equipment effects: Skills:

0xA0 to 0xAF: +status (low/med/high) except poison and crit
0x107 = Summer Dream (All party members get HP/SP halved)
0x108 = Summer Dream (2000 Damage to all enemies)
0x10C = Summer Dream (Instant Death to all enemies)
0x10D = Summer Dream (All enemies get HP/SP halved)
0x10F = Summer Dream (All enemies get their HP/SP reduced to 1/0, 15% SP)
0x157 = Great Seal (Not intended to be seen)
0x158 = Great Seal (One of these is either a duplicate)
0x1FB = Masakados [Omnipotent Orb as skill]
0x20A = Stamina Up 1
0x20B = Stamina Up 2
0x20C = Stamina Up 3
0x20E = Premonition [This may just be my memory failing me. Not sure.]
0x219 = HP Up 1 [HP and SP Up skills have no effect unless they are on the active Persona.]
0x21A = HP Up 2
0x21B = HP Up 3
0x21C = SP Up 1
0x21D = SP Up 2
0x21E = SP Up 3
0x237 = HP Up
0x238 = SP Up
0x23E = Magic Skill Up [Would later be used in P3P as Messiah's signature skill]
0x23F = Phys Skill Up
0x244 = Rosary
0x245 = Prayer Beads
0x261 = For Debug [not unused, but not intended to be seen]
0x264 = Resist Charm [Debug? Enemy only? No description]
0x265 = Resist Distress [See 264]
0x266 = Resist Panic [See 264]
0x267 = Resist Fear [See 264]
0x268 = Resist Rage [See 264]
0x269 = Resist Freeze [See 264]
0x26A = Resist Shock [See 264]
0x26B = Resist Poison [See 264]
0x26C = HP Up High [Exactly the same as HP Up]
0x26D = SP Up High [Exactly the same as SP Up]

Summer Dream, when used normally, randomly calls one of a handful of skills also named Summer Dream to cause its random effect. Those listed here aren't listed on the Megami Tensei Wiki as valid effects of the skill. There are some duplicate entries but those may be used for stacking the odds in favor of the more tame effects. "Rosary" and "Prayer Beads" sound like they would be items rather than skills, but are listed far from where the battle items are listed.

Equipment effects:

0x30 = Strong vs Death [Might be used, but might not, as it would only affect the final bosses]
0x46 = +キュート [Cute]
0x47 = +ファンシー[Fancy]
0x48 = +ラブリー[Lovely]
0xA8 = +Effective vs Death [unclear if used]
0xA9 = +Deadly vs Death [unclear if used]
0xB7 = Charm Resist
0xB8 = Distress Resist
0xB9 = Panic Resist
0xBA = Fear Resist
0xBB = Rage Resist
0xBC = Poison Resist
0xBD = [none? 0x82 is used for weapons listed in the shop before purchasing, not this]
0xBE to 0xFF = [removes description, effect unknown, if any. likely unused]

I have a full list of skills, Personas, and equipment effects, as well as a Cheat Engine table for PCSX2, at https://pastebin.com/RyLDL6B6 -Yuki (talk) 04:41, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
