This is a sub-page of Sonic the Hedgehog (2013).

This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
Hmmm...
To do:
Some screenshots and videos showing the differences wouldn't harm this page.

Zone Differences

Hmmm...
To do:
Make a comparison of the structure of the zones, like in Sonic 2 Remaster.

Green Hill Zone

Marble Zone

  • In Marble Zone Act 1, an invincibility monitor can be found at the top of the stage, along with a new wall preventing access. This was added for Tails and Knuckles to find with their abilities.

  • In Marble Zone Act 3, a track of collapsing blocks can be found in front of the boss arena, which is not the case in the original game. These were presumably added to prevent new players from careening off into the lava when entering.

Miscellaneous Differences

  • Sonic kicks up dust clouds when he skids, as he does in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and future games.
  • While Debug Mode is enabled, monitors can be used more than once.
  • The Level Select menu style is taken directly from Sonic 2, including newly made zone icons for the Sonic 1 zones.
  • Player options now include Sonic/Tails, Tails Alone, and Knuckles. Tails and Knuckles have their movesets from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, allowing them to get to areas that Sonic cannot normally access. Sonic & Tails Mode now lets Tails fly Sonic around without the need for a 2nd Player. By hitting Up and Jump when Tails is airborne, he will take off and if you jump to him he can carry you as in Sonic 3.
    • There is no NATIVE support for playing as Knuckles and Tails (there never was), but it's still possible to do so by use of the Level Select menu. The game will be set to play as Knuckles with a Tails assist.
  • The Sonic 1 title screen changes depending on which character is selected.
