Smuggler's Run is a racing game in which the player plays as a smuggler who has a number of different vehicles at his disposal including dune buggies, rally cars, monster trucks and military vehicles. The vehicles are used to smuggle assorted cargo through three different large and open levels. It is the first game of the Smuggler's Run series and one of the two launch titles for the PlayStation 2 in North America developed by Angel Studios, the other being Midnight Club: Street Racing. While it uses the same game engine as Midtown Madness 2 and Midnight Club: Street Racing, it has been adapted to support offroad levels instead of cities.

Unused Props

Several unplayable vehicle props are left unused:

Copcar - Model is based on the NYPD police cars from Midnight Club: Street Racing. The textures are repainted black and the side texture is of a Chevrolet Caprice 9C1, very likely from the East Bay Regional Parks Police.

fp_sedan_s - Sedan based on the NY traffic taxi from Midnight Club: Street Racing.

fp_limo_s - Limo version of the sedan.

Regional Differences

The game was renamed to Crazy Bump's: Kattobi Car Battle! in Japan.
