Oh dear, I do believe I have the vapors. This page contains content that is not safe for work or other locations with the potential for personal embarrassment. Such as: Very suggestive loading screen of a Japanese woman. |
This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. Notes: This is just a note for SuprCotn, but the game's data is just in general really fucking weird. Most of the textures are unevenly optimized with a boss eye texture being unusually large, and Cotton's textures and model are nowhere to be seen. The UI's files are duplicated numerous times with different colors each, here's an ungodly amount of voice clips that I can't actually tell are unused or not, and it's just... weird. Really. Really weird. And the timestamps are from November! The header is December 1! They only finished this game and handed it out by the next month, despite advertising efforts listing 1999! God, this game is so scary! Let's have a moment of silence for Hiroaki Daichi, as this was one of his last works before he quit animation forever... |
...But what does it mean? This game has text or audio that needs to be translated. If you are fluent with this language, please read our translation guidelines and then submit a translation! Notes: Text in one of the images, and the CD warning skit. |
Rainbow Cotton is the first game in the series to explore real-time 3D and fully-animated cutscenes, with the game now using a multiple path-based rail shooter system. This time, Cotton goes on what could charitably be called an adventure for Willows but realistically could be described as a killing spree.
The game had a troubled development, coming out to mixed reception. This would be the last major Cotton game for two decades, until the surprise release of Cotton Rock 'n' Roll.
Hidden Wallpapers
By inserting the CD in a computer, there is an EXTRA folder where you can access several wallpapers in JPG format. Notably, all copyrights are 1999, suggesting that the 2000 date on the title screen was a late modification.
CD Warning Track
If placed into a CD player, the disc will play the below audio skit featuring most of the game's voice actors. Unusually, it lasts three minutes.
Unused Loading Screen
Hidden in the archive LOAD00.PVM is a photo of Japanese actress Yūka with the standard loading screen text. Likely a placeholder image that the devs forgot to remove.
