This is a sub-page of Proto:Persona 5/December 4th, 2015.

Hmmm...
To do:
waaaaaaay more.
  • Replace final equivalents with Japanese graphics.
  • A lot of differences in graphics in field/panel

The save icon and bootup images are both placeholders using art from Catherine.

Sample folder

There's a folder in the file hdd.cpk named "sample" that contains very early and basic graphics.

Windows

Unused teammate graphics depicting the early protagonist, Catherine from Catherine with a different color palette, Chie, the scrapped female protagonist, and Vincent Brooks from Catherine with a darker clothing palette.

Window 01.png Window 02.png Window 03.png Window 04.png Window 05.png

Interestingly, the early protagonist matches this conceptual design.

Character Cutins

A cutin for the scrapped female protagonist. The file name refers to her as 'akage', which literally means 'red hair'.

P5 Dec42015AkageCutin.png

A saturated cutin for Akihiko. Seems to be a never-before-seen early version of this particular sprite, as his mouth shape matches a concept sketch of him left in the files of Persona 3.

P5 Dec42015AkihikoCutin.png

A cutin for Chie.

P5 Dec42015ChieCutin.png

A saturated cutin for Yukari.

Battle Graphics

Joker's All-Out Attack portrait is different, matching the one seen in the PV01 Trailer. It also has a second, more zoomed in version where Futaba's All-Out Attack portrait would be.

Early Early Final

These images are found within the folder data.cpk/battle/gui, but their use is currently unknown. Notably, the filenames refer to Ryuji and Yusuke by their early names, Reiji and Yugo.

An image of a bullet.

What seems to be an early version of Morgana's navigation textbox. The formatting isn't broken here, the image is really just that long.

Chat Icons

In this build their are two different versions of chat.spd, one in the same folder as file named chatFile.pak and one inside that file. While most of the icons are the same between the two versions, the version of chat.spd inside chatFile.pak has most of its non-character icons moved to below the character icons and is missing a few. In the final game, there's only one file in the folder that contains the icons and it's just called chat.pac.

Palace Security Meter Graphics

Kamoshida

The image is slightly resized in the final, and some of the lines are slightly different.

Early Final
P5 KamoshidaSecurity1Dec42015.png P5 KamoshidaSecurity1Final.png

The changes from the previous image are present, the shading on the bottom of the medal was changed, and his abdomen is cut off earlier.

Madarame

The image is almost completely different outside of the pose. The white outline was made much thicker in the final.

Early Final
P5 MadarameSecurity1Dec42015.png P5 MadarameSecurity1Final.png

The shading on Madarame's sleeve was altered, the Sayuri was added, and the white outline was made much thicker.

P5 MadarameSecurity2Dec42015.png P5 MadarameSecurity2Final.png.png

Kaneshiro

Kaneshiro's right arm was moved, cash was added to his hand, his jacket altered, and the white outline was made much thicker.

Early Final
P5 KaneshiroSecurity2Dec42015.png P5 KaneshiroSecurity2Final.png.png

Okumura

Okumura's hair was moved to the other side of his head, the UFO was added, shading was changed, and the white outline was made much thicker. The hair was likely moved to the other side to keep the side his hair is on consistent with his model and portraits, as in the final game the security meter actually mirrors the images in-game.

Sae

Sae's arm was adjusted and a line was added, the hair above her arm was moved, she was made a little thinner, and the white outline was made much thicker.

Early Final
P5 SaeSecurity2Dec42015.png P5 SaeSecurity2Final.png.png

Shido

Shido's security image is completely different from the final. He only has his second image depicting his shadow, which is just an unused duplicate of his normal one in the final version.

P5 ShidoSecurity2Dec42015.png

Wakaba?

Not only is the unused meter image seemingly depicting Wakaba here, but it's also flipped and has a normal version. These images are used as placeholders for the missing security meter images.

Early Final
P5 UnknownSecurity2Dec42015.png P5 UnknownSecurity2Final.png

Speech Bubble

Found among the Security Meter images is this graphic of a speech bubble, which translates to "Not yet, huh...". The Security Meters are displayed on the right side of the screen in this build, so this speech bubble was likely meant to appear above them.

P5 SecuritySpeechBubbleDec42015.png

Early Leaving Palace Graphics

Images of Joker similar to his pause menu graphics. These poses match those of his model's animations in the final game, indicating that the sequence for leaving the Palace originally used graphics like these instead of only using his model.

P5 Dec42015LeavingPalace1.pngP5 Dec42015LeavingPalace2.png

Cropped screenshots of the Palace entrances. It's possible that when Joker breaks through the wall, the background was going to show the palace instead of red. Just about all of the screenshots show early designs of the Palaces.
