To do:

Pack Project Prototype

According to Katsuya Eguchi, who is the producer of Wii Sports, Wii Play and Wii Music, originally there was a prototype software that included tech demos which tested the capabilities of the Wii Remote. The tech demos featured in the prototype software were divided into two categories: family-oriented games, which would become part of Wii Play, and sports games, which would become part of Wii Sports.[1]

The timeStamp.txt files found in Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Fit, and Wii Music refer to the prototype software as Pack Project.

E3 2006

In E3 2006, there were three minigames showcased belonging to the Remote Pointer Demo, which is an early version of Wii Play.

Obstacle Course

In Obstacle Course, which is a prototype of Pose Mii, you would move and rotate your Mii in order to dodge obstacles and collect coins in an autoscroller. While the controls and a few animations remained the same for the final version, the final version doesn't have obstacles or coins, isn't set in an autoscroller, and doesn't have a goal object.

This minigame was ultimately cut given how, as development was in its final stages, Wii Sports was given more time priority, so the developers (who worked on both projects at the same time) weren't able to finish it on time. This minigame, however, served as the base for Wii Fit's Balance Bubble minigame.[2] The fact that some files (such as Mii animations and models) related to Pose Mii and Balance Bubble are prefixed with ira in their filenames also suggests this.

Shooting

Shooting is a prototype of the Shooting Range minigame found in Wii Play, which closely resembles the final version; however, the HUD is different from the final version and the UFOs don't kidnap any Miis.

Table Tennis

Table Tennis is a prototype of the Table Tennis minigame found in Wii Play, which looks similar to the final version; however, the Miis are all spawned in rather than one appearing next to the Table every 10 rallies. One major gameplay difference is that the player gets three tries instead of one in the final version. After that, the try with the best score is the new record.

Bird minigame

A side-view flight action minigame, named Bird, was developed, but ultimately cut from the final game, given how, as development was in its final stages, Wii Sports was given more time priority, so the developers (who worked on both projects at the same time) weren't able to finish it on time (much like what happened with the Obstacle Course minigame). This would eventually be repurposed for Nintendo Land as the Balloon Trip Breeze minigame.[2]
