Unused / Unfinished Characters
The game has in the Story Mode various unfinished versions of the characters from the roster, including both Kombat Kameos and Playable Characters.
Playable Characters
Quan Chi
An unfinished version of Quan Chi exists on the data files, which uses MK11 Shang Tsung's stance and attacks as placeholders, used for the Story Mode. He later arrived as a full playable DLC Character on December 14th for the Early Access users, fully released on December 21st, with a brand new moveset.
As being unfinished, he lacks bones for the Fatal Blows, apart from lack of Fatalities and Brutalities, having only the basic attacks, some specials and that's it. Curiously, this version is the one used for Kameo Titan Quan Chi.
Ermac
Like Quan Chi, he uses MK11 Noob Saibot's stance and attacks as placeholders, having his attacks slightly edited, and like Quan Chi, he lacks bones, Fatal Blows, Fatalities, Brutalities and the taunt, T-posing instead. Unlike Quan Chi (before his DLC Version was released), he had facials programmed in the Armageddon Chapter.
Along with Quan Chi, they were announced as part of the Kombat Pack 1 DLC for the game, being Ermac released in April 16 (Early Access) and April 23 (Full Release), revamped and with a new moveset, along with Mavado.
Kameo Characters
Khameleon
An unfinished version of Khameleon is used in the Story Mode against Tanya, lacking the Jade pole attack part. A DLC Version, complete with a proper Fatal Blow and Fatality along with Quan Chi, were released on December 14th and 21th.
Elemental Kameos
These ones are exclusively for the story mode, being the ice one a clone of Kameo Sub-Zero. With the exception of the last mentioned, all of them uses a generic Fatal Blow.
Unused Dialogues
Quan Chi (Non-KP1, Story Mode Ver.)
It's known that thanks to the datamining, both him and Ermac were planned for the base game, hence why their Tower Endings were completed but left unused until the Kombat Pack 1 dropped. Unlike Ermac, he have almost all of his facial animations incomplete.
Ermac (Non-KP1, Story Mode Ver.)
It's well known that Ermac was originally part of the base roster during the development, and despite he was left in the game as a placeholder version until the KP1 dropped, he had full dialogues and face animations in the Armageddon Chapter, that can only be seen via hacking.
Unused Endings
Note: All of this endings were used for their Kombat Pack 1 versions after the release of it.
Quan Chi
When the game was released, and because Quan Chi was at that time a Story-Exclusive Character (Or placeholder), this ending was left unused until Quan Chi's release.
Ermac
Same case as Quan Chi. Despite the character is used only in the story mode and unplayable without hacking, his ending was present and unused until his KP1 counterpart took it.
Unused Game Modes
Tag Team Mode
In the files of the game, an almost completed Tag Team mode (Seen in past games) is present, albeit unused and a bit unfinished.
In-game doesn't change the UI to the other character, but one of the pause menus with the moveset.
Unused / Alternative Cutscene
Armageddon Scene - Kombat Kids Encounter
An actual intro scene for the Kombat Kids! Unfortunately didn't made the cut for unknown reasons and was left unused. Instead, was converted into a fast-kill scene.
