Unused Sounds

TEMP SLASH.sfx

As the name suggests, some kind of slashing sound. The filename suggests it was used as a placeholder.

TEMP VO SCREAM.sfx

A knockback voice clip of Zelda from Super Smash Bros. Melee with a high-pitch filter. Again, the filename suggests it was used as a placeholder.

Unused Translations

Data Corruption Error

In ErrorText.loctext, the error message for a data corruption error is located. It is the exact same message as in the PAL version of Mighty Flip Champs!, including the translations to French, Spanish, German and Italian. These translations are not used in the final game, as the rest of the game was never translated to these languages.

French Tutorial Text

In TutorialText.loctext, the tutorial text that is shown in the first few levels is located. It is prefaced by the words ‘French’ and ‘English’, followed by some nonsensical French text, after which the English tutorial text used in the game starts. It is not a translation, but the placement suggests that there was an initial intent of translating the text into French.

Original French Text Translation
vous avez une grand nez dans votre pain. you have a big nose in your bread
quelle surprise! what a surprise!
Ma vie sent votre visage My life smells like your face
si tu as lavé les ananas if you washed the pineapples
je ne peux pas finir la singe I cannot finish the monkey
Tu es la fromage You are the cheese

The text in French has some grammatical errors. It is unknown if the game was planned to have translations. Interestingly, Shantae: Risky's Revenge (DSiWare), another Wayforward game, also had some odd French texts randomly located within the code.

Debug Text

Like other Wayforward games of this time period, many debug messages and strings are left over in the code, which were likely intended for internal testing and troubleshooting. Full scripts can be found on the Debug Logs subpage.

Possible Translations

Located at 0x9217C is another remnant of a possible localisation of the game.

<Localization not found>
No translation.

This suggests that the game was intended to be translated, likely into French, Spanish, German and Italian, but that the idea was abandoned during development.
