Naughty Dog Customization
Originally called the Mongoose, it was fully usable in earlier builds, and was also a test car. For unknown reasons, it never got all its body parts made, and was rebranded into a kind of mascot car.
The game does not let you customize it, apart from antennas and helmets. The rest of the menu options are disabled. With memory editing, it is possible to edit the locked properties of this car, allowing full customization.
The Naughty Dog logo is "burned" into some body parts, and does not appear in others.
Here are all the possible body parts for this car, notes are in brackets:
- Front Fenders:
- Kras Standard (default)
- Haven Laminate
- Side Panels:
- Kras Standard (default)
- Hood:
- Kras Standard (default)
- Haven Laminate
- Spargus Ceramic
- Trunk:
- Kras Standard
- Haven Laminate (default)
- Spargus Ceramic
- Hybrid Array
- Wheels:
- Gyro-Monsters (default, but any other wheels work)
The following table shows all the body parts that this car has:

Test Level Leftovers
There are references to a test level called halfpipe, which is not present in the final game:
- The game is aware of a level called halfpipe, but because the level file itself is missing, attempting to load it will result in the game repeatedly trying to do so without success.
- There is also a checkpoint called halfpipe, which does not work for the same reason.
Game-breaking bug
The game autosaves if it is started with a memory card, which does not work properly on certain PS2 models (reportedly most black slims as well as at least one fat model) and all PS3s, allegedly due to the developers not having time to finish the QA process. The autosave symbol blinks on and off indefinitely when the glitch occurs as it constantly attempts to save, which sometimes crashes the game. Upon a reset, the the Jak X save data will become corrupted and unable to load, leaving a block of 984kb of undeletable corrupted data on the memory card.
A workaround is to play the game with no memory card inserted and only insert it when necessary. The North American Greatest Hits edition is reported to have this bug fixed, though it is unknown whether this is also the case for the European Platinum edition. This glitch is fully fixed in the PS4 edition.
Version 1.03 of the PS4 version contained a different game-breaking bug where all of the cars' wheels or even entire cars are invisible. Attempting to use a car would cause it to render without wheels and respawn at the last checkpoint constantly, and attempting to use an invisible car would cause the game to crash. This was patched in version 1.04.
