Demo Tracks

In December 2020, four early tracks from Sonic Adventure 2 were released for the Extra Life charity after a stretch goal of $6,000 was met. They likely all date before November 2000, given that the finalized instrumental City Escape track is used in The Trial.

Name Demo Track Final Notes
City Escape
Saw the most differences out of any tracks. It starts off differently, the instruments are very different, it doesn't include the vocals yet (which uses an instrumental instead and all tracks except for the "COMING 2001" voice featured in The Trial demo was used up until the much later Trial Version build), the track lasts for a minute and-a-half, and the ending was completely redone for The Trial (something that the in-game version lacks in the final game) and the final soundtrack. The instrumental at 0:24 - 0:38 would later be used and remixed in Sonic Generations as the solo guitar for Classic Sonic's City Escape stage.
Metal Harbor
The left and right channels for the guitar instrument at the beginning of the track are panned closer to the center, the instruments are different again, and the track loops at 1:13 (similar to what's heard in-game rather than having an ending as it does in the final soundtrack) until 1:23, where the ending starts 10 seconds later and was again reworked on.
Mission Street
There are less instruments that were later added, certain instruments are once again different, some notes are held for a shorter time (such as at 0:59) than the final version, and it contains a unique ending which plays after around 2 minutes and a-half-minutes that is not heard in-game nor in any of the official soundtracks of the final version, as they all use Fade Out.
Radical Highway
The drum instruments are very different, some instruments are quieter and again missing, it plays for 1 minute and 21 seconds (as opposed to the 2 minute mark in the final), and the ending was altered once again, as there were additional drum sounds from the beginning of the track that were later removed in the final soundtrack.
