Nickelodeon Party Blast has a fairly interesting development history. The game was proposed as early as November 2000, when it was titled "NickToons Olympics". It was proposed again in March 2001 as a party game, sharing a lot more in common with the released game than the NickToons Olympics pitch. Development of the actual game likely started around July 2001, and the full game was completed just over a year later. Years after the game was released, several developer backups containing assets not seen in any other builds (including the prototype builds) were discovered on old Data Design Interactive backup drives.
