The Vehicles
Vehicles will be done differently from other special items, I think. I say that the vehicle is parked somewhere where Duke can't help but find it. Then he rides that vehicle through a section of the level. Then he comes to a special dismount area where he dumps/parks the vehicle.
Jet Ski
Used in the first level. Runs over water. You know about this, of course, I'm just rehashing old news here. It can move left or right (at two different speeds, just like Duke's running control.) It can jump, Duke has 360 degree firing at all times.
Snow Mobile
The exact same idea as the Jet Ski, except it looks a little different and is used on different terrain. Everything else is the same as a Jet Ski.
The Hawg
Again, this is just another incarnation of the Jet Ski.
Jet Pack
-This- one's different. Duke straps it on and away we go! While on the ground, Dukes controls remain exactly the same as always. However, by pointing the mouse cursor over Duke's head and using the right mouse run button, Duke takes to the air. Like everything else, the Jet Pack has two speeds. Jump has no meaning while in midair. Duke can fire a full 360 degrees. For simplicities sake, the Jet Pack will never run out of fuel. Also, to go down, Duke must thrust downward. He won't fall while he's wearing the Jet Pack. You should use the sonic gun's ripple effect to show heat coming from the Jet Pack.
MegaSpider
This is a boss that Duke gets to drive in episode 2. It is basically a big tank. See the description below for what it looks like and its armament. The MegaSpider can bash right thru brick walls and trees. It's turret gun packs a real wallop, but cannot be aimed any direction but straight forward. The MegaSpider can jump. It doesn't move very fast. It is completely impervious to enemy fire.
MegaHornet
This is a boss that Duke gets to drive in episode 3. This thing flies, and thus has controls similar to the MegaSpider. It has a small stinger turret that can be aimed a full 360 degrees. It too is impervious to enemy fire.
Duke Ball
This is a huge hollow plexiglas ball. It's a lot like those balls you put your hamster in, but this one is big enough for Duke.Since he's enclosed, he can't use his weapons, but likewise he is protected from enemy fire. Also, he can roll it around quite well to crush his enemies. It does tend to gain momentum and can only be turned around with difficulty once it's gotten under way. Also, this thing has a habit of rolling really fast up and down hills. I was thinking of putting this in as a sort of novelty in the Theme Park episode. Also might prove to be a clever way to get through hazardous environments like lava or toxic slime.
Mini Sub
You could consider this a Jet Pack for underwater areas. It also allow us to get away with not having SCUBA gear. The Sub can move more deftly than Duke can swim. It is not actually a submarine, but one of those motorized craft that divers use to pull themselves along at high speed. This one is equipped with a small bubble helmet or mask that allows Duke to breathe underwater.
