Roll back off the road with a new engine (based on that of Onrush), new cross-platform multiplayer capabilities, and the looming shadow of a new publisher - this was Codemasters' final release before being acquired by EA a few months later, and the absence of series features like Rallying mode and cinematic replays suggest that the game was a bit rushed.

Further, the game doesn't feature the voices of any real professional drivers, so they faked them instead - such as Bruno Durand being voiced by Nolan North.
