Carmageddon: Total Destruction Racing 2000
Carmageddon: TDR 2000 |
---|
Also known as: Carmageddon 3: TDR 2000 (US) This game has unused items. |
Carmageddon: TDR 2000 is the third game (or the turd game, if you're asking the series creators at Stainless, who weren't involved in development!) in the Carmageddon series. While it received a huge boost to the visuals and audio, the gameplay was comparatively lacking. While the developer and quality level changed, the goal is still the same: kill, waste or race!

Unused Powerups
To do: Add the code you have to enter to get the powerups. |
Some powerups exist in the game, but can only be accessed with cheats. Most of these are present in previous games. Many of them do nothing, or just freeze the pedestrians in place.
Groovin' Pedestrians
Should make the pedestrians stop in place and start dancing, unable to run away. Instead, it makes the pedestrians freeze completely. If they see a car, they'll face the opposite direction. It lasts for 10 seconds, and its icon is the same as the Greased Shoes icon.
Mutant Corpses
Should make the pedestrians' corpses spazz and spew blood. Instead, it does nothing. It lasts for 10 seconds, and its icon shows a money bag, showing a sign of incompletion.
Pedestrian Annihilator
Should zap nearby pedestrians when used. Instead, that powerup has been renamed to Pedestrian electro-bastard ray, and this cut powerup has no effect. It lasts for 10 seconds, and its icon shows an electrified person.
Pedestrian Panic
Should make all pedestrians run around in panic. Instead, it makes pedestrians unable to move, at all. It lasts for 10 seconds, and its icon shows a pedestrian with an exclamation mark.
Pedestrians with Stupid Heads
Should increase the pedestrians' heads. Instead, it does nothing. It lasts for 10 seconds, and its icon shows a pedestrian with its head tilted to the side.
Piss-Artist Pedestrians
Should make pedestrians walk around as if they were drunk. Instead, it's like groovin' pedestrians. Even the icon is the same.
Drink Driving
Should reverse the player's controls, make the screen wooble, and cause other "drunk" effects. However, it cannot be obtained. Its name can be found along with other powerups' names, but the game will still consider it not found. It has been replaced by a Reversed controls powerup, which only inverts the controls.
Catch Powerup
Upon collecting this powerup, the player has 30 seconds to grab a pickup (i.e. get another powerup). It'll then be "caught" and stored in the inventory. This should provide a "portable" version of the powerup, but it is unusable. Catching more than one may lead to strange effects.
Car Stealer
This seems to be fully functional. Once collected, the player has 15 seconds to touch an opponent's car. After that, the player will drive around using that car. If the new vehicle gets wasted, the player loses the race, instead of getting rid of an opponent.
- In addition, hitting a wasted opponent with this powerup is also instant defeat.
Timer Frozen
Upon collection, this powerup freezes the timer completely. It cannot be increased or decreased. Another powerup, called timer thawed does just that: makes the timer return to normal.
Unused
A powerup with the name "unused" has been found with the other powerups. Guess what, it's unused. It doesn't do a thing.
Other Things
Opponent Descriptions
In the garage, the player can see some stats about the available cars. However, the textbox is too small to hold all of the information. It can only show the max speed and such. There is still info about the driver's name, and a very brief description or taunt. If one chooses The Fortress, one can see that some of the text managed to sneak out of invisibility: "She's FORT KNOX". The Nosebleed Pack's vehicles (an addon with extra cars) don't have this description, though.
Unused Track
In Races_Strings_UK.txt, there is a reference to a cut multiplayer level called GyroBox, there are no remaining files of this level.
//RACE //NAME "GyroBox" // WORLD "GyroBox" // DISPLAY_NAME "Gyro Box (multiplayer)" // DESCRIPTION "Lose your bearings first. Then your wheels, then your lunch. And finally your mind." //END
Unused Options
To do: document this stuff in detail. |
There are several options with unknown effects, found in options.txt
, and some might be unused. One of them should apparently toggle the race position on the HUD, but the Carmageddon series don't have race positions.
