NiGHTS Steam Models

May I ask what you're using to extract the models from the Steam version of NiGHTS into Dreams? Figure I can go through and make renders of all of the unused models. Also btw, the textures are using regular PS2 swizzling and PS2 palettes (with signed alpha instead of unsigned). The formats of both models and textures seem to be pretty much designed with PS2 in mind, with the textures referencing specific GS registers for texture transfers. --Silvris (talk) 04:30, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

Ahhh ok, that explains twenty tons of what I've been trying to deal with. I have been using my own program to extract the model data as obj files and textures as bmp files, but I made it blindly, just going off of what I could reverse engineer without knowing a thing about PS2 formats. So if you have a better program made by someone who knew what they were doing, that would be amazing. I've tried to search up PS2 texture formats with no luck. Still, I put my program on GitHub if you want to use it. Once again, if there's a program designed for PS2 textures I would absolutely love to see that. I'm curious to see what the textures actually look like and glad to not try to untangle these any more. Edit: Oh, also my program extracts objects as having multiple redundant vertices because I had it count every one, even though some are listed multiple times because of how they arrange into faces. They should still texture fine though The Gremmar Warden (talk) 05:59, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
