DebugIcon.png This game has debugging material.

Hmmm...
To do:
Finish this page to actually create the Virtua Fighter 2 (Windows) page and add all of this there.

Debug Menu

There is an set of debug features buried in the game's executable that can be accesed by enabling the options in the menu bar by using an tool like Resource Hacker to add the options, which are already present in an unused variant of the menu bar. While it can also be enabled properly in the D3D-patched version of the executable, most of the visual-altering settings don't have any effect unless you have set whatever it affects to DDraw instead of D3D.

Note that most of the menu options are written in Japanese, which causes the text in these to display as question marks.

カメラがあなたの思うまま! (&C): Use the camera as you want! (Free Cam)

Display Text English Notes
&1P体力 &1P Life Submenu that lets you pick between Dead [死にそう (&D)], Half [半分 (&H)] and Full [いっぱい (&M)], which changes Player 1's health amount to what they indicate (Dead sets you to no health, but doesn't kill you).
&2P体力 &2P Life Same as above except for Player 2 side.
残り時間(&T) Time Remaining (&T) Submenu that contains the End [終わり (&E)], 2 seconds [残り&2秒], 30 seconds [残り&30秒], and 99 seconds [残り&99秒] options, respectively. It sets the time to whichever option you picked (with End setting it to around 0'01 seconds, ending the match inmediately).
次のシーンへ! (&N) To the next scene! (&N) Not sure what this one does, but possibly could be related to going to the next stage.
BIG HEAD BIG HEAD Makes the character heads big and their limbs longer. Interestingly, while this would fit like an cheat in the retail game, there is none to be found.
DISPLAY FACE DISPLAY FACE Displays the heads for the characters being used on the lower corners of the screen, clearly intended to test the character expressions.
Collision Ball Collision Ball Submenu that has "1P" and "2P" options. Replaces the character model for the player you selected for an set of cyan-colored balls, which change color to dark-blue when they touch the other player's model/collision balls.
debug mes debug mes Shows two lines of debug-related strings in the lower area of the screen.
イカサマ Cheat Enabling this option causes an Time Over, but unlike the option on the Time submenu, this one instantly brings the "Time Over" message, and almost every time it makes Player 1 the round's winner, even when Player 2 has more health or if they have both the same health (unlike the other setting, which would cause an Draw in the latter case). The name is possibly an reference to that fact.
でく (&K) Dummy (&K) Lets the players control the CPU characters. For example, in an P1 vs CPU match or in an CPU vs CPU match, enabling this would allow P2 control the CPU character in the former, and both players control the characters in the latter. Does nothing if both players are already enabled.
