More Games
There's some fangames on the site (at least Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, Sonic Robo Blast 2, Super Smash Bros. Crusade, and Super Smash Land; there might be more, but those are the only ones I can think of at the moment) that should have this template present (and hence should be in Category:Fan games) but don't. Thing is, I'm not really sure what to link to for the "a TCRF admin gave permission" requirement. I've seen a number of talk page messages saying they were created before the "no fangames" rule was added and got grandfathered in, but I'm not sure if that'd count and I don't feel comfortable with adding the template (even in nocat or commented-out form) without the required link. -WarioBarker (talk) 19:28, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
- After a lot of experimentation, I successfully updated the template to kind of compensate for pages which were alleged to be "grandfathered in" or otherwise don't have explicit written permission to exist. That being said… I did some digging.
- Both of those Smash Bros. fan games had pages which existed before the rules were given a proper page (late January 2013)… but Mushroom Kingdom Fusion (March 2013) and especially Sonic Robo Blast 2 (January 2022?! Really…!) both go against the rules of the time and as of now. Not… entirely sure what to do about that other than make a note of it on the relevant talk pages.

About this template
Isn't it against the rules for non-admins to make new content templates like this (or at least without admin permission)? esp if you're already adding it to game pages... --Zyxyz (talk) 04:50, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
- If I was making this template in the main page space – or rather, if I had it as a "Template:" pages – then yeah. That's probably hugely frowned upon. But, since it's still in my user page space, and especially since I haven't toggled the template as part of the available templates (it's kind of a "trial run", I guess), it's probably semi-sorta okay? No one's said anything so far…
- As for adding it to actual pages? Again, no one's said anything. But, it's entirely possible someone eventually might. Guess we'll see what happens. Thank you for bringing it up.
