Xbox 360 Dashboard/Revisional Differences

With the Xbox 360, Microsoft began a habit of doing regular tweaks and even massive redesigns to the dashboard interface.

v1.00 (Blades)

The first version of the Xbox 360 Dashboard, commonly nicknamed "the Blades". Used from the console's launch on November 22, 2005 to November 19, 2008, when NXE replaced it.

With the initial release of the dashboard, there were four blades: Xbox Live, Games, Media, and System. Dashboard build 2.0.5759.0, released on May 9, 2007, added an additional fifth blade for the Xbox Live Marketplace. 2.0.6683.0 modified shrunk down the size of the blade titles.

From the initial release of the dashboard to the release of 2.0.6683.0, going through each level of navigation on the dashboard would show an animation. Selecting an option from the main menu would tuck all but the current blade away. Going deeper would tuck that blade away too. Continuing to go deeper would show an animation with the header and footer borders. Starting with 2.0.6683.0, the animations were greatly simplified, with selecting an option at the root tucking away all the blades and the header/footer animations were removed.
