Concept Art

While ideas were still being pitched for the remake, NICALiS suggested it should be in 3D. However, since the director of the game Naramura didn't have experience with making 3D games, he refused the idea and preferred to do it in 2D.

Note: transcription of the Fs is dubious as this image seems to use two forms of the same letter, and it is too low quality for them to be properly discerned.

LaMulanaRemake-EarlyItemAcquiring.jpg

A screenshot of an early version of the Gate of Guidance, focusing on the popup that appears when you get an item.
The Japanese text reads "「初期装備の革ムチ」を手に入れた!", which translates to "Acquired the 'Initial Stage Equipment Leather Whip'!".
Although the item and image shown are the normal Whip, the HUD says "Chain whip" instead.

LaMulanaRemake-EarlyWarpMenu.jpg

An early version of the Grail Warp menu, using screenshots of the MSX-style version. Here, the menu format - called a ring command by Naramura - and naming scheme have already been decided, featuring the wonderful subtitle of "Eigode Namae" (英語で名前, "Name in English").

Musics for Remake

Nigoro released a series of videos called Musics for Wii (renamed by the fourth video) on Nicovideo and YouTube that featured previews of the remake's soundtrack. Turns out those previews are different from the tracks we have today.
